Lap Band vs. VSG advice request

Recommended Posts

I am going to meet with a surgeon for the first time in September and he only does Lap Band and VSG type surgeries. I'm sure he will lay it out for me the pros and cons as well as the hours I've already spent looking into both, but I'm curious what the actual patients who have had them see as the pros and cons of both.

I have also read the many stories of those who have had the lap band and then had to have the VSG or Bypass done after. In some cases, both. I'm not against the permanence of the VSG, I think, but I guess I want to make up my mind before a medical professional talks me into it one way or another. I know that sounds incredibly stupid.

Advice. Avoid the Lap-Band. I was banded in 2011, revised this past march. Wish I just went with the Bypass to begin with. The Lap-Band is being phased out, 2 major manufacturers don't make them or replacement parts any longer. If the major suppliers are pulling out, that should tell you something.

Thanks Matt, duly noted. That is definitely a big red flag. I appreciate your response.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
