Not Protein Driven

  • Popular Post

I was up very late watching YouTube (Dr. V- Vong ?) He has some interesting ideas about not being so protein driven after surgery.

I have already consulted my team and have been given the green light so I'm slowly transitioning to plant based again ( I'm flexible at the moment leaning heavily on plant matter) but also I'm not sold on being protein crazed either, especially the further out I go.

I will have to watch carbs forever because I'm sensitive to them so there is a delicate balance for me.

Is there anyone following the Dr. V approach?

Don't forget to "like" if you like...

(Show a little love its the Brooklyn way!)

My doc and nutritionist say 60g per day is minimum....and getting it from plant based sources is totally ok. But DO get your 60g.....It's important to protect your muscle mass....because your mus

Rule of thumb... .36g of protien per pound of body weight for healthy maintenance. (Also...this should be obvious....but always talk to your team about making these changes.)

I struggle with protein because I have a lot of restriction, and can't reasonably get to 60 g with food alone. I'd really love to ditch protein shakes. But I read the below article, and it scared me

I don’t do shakes. Every morning I have a protein juice drink. I got it from Amazon and it’s called New York bariatric. I got the sample pack which has 7 flavors. I add to it Dr Axe collagen protein. I am getting 25 g of protein I that drink. It’s just Different than a creamy shake. I prefer juice in the morning so this works well for me and it’s fewer calories than a shake.

Of course nearly everything I tried to upload was problematic,

After researching I think I will play around with alternating normal high to med high Protein intake when I convert to fully plant based. Just to stave if the desire to return to a heavy carb diet. I'm too carb sensitive.
