Had my bypass on 4/20/18. Two weeks later sharp pain on lower left side. Was admitted to hospital with an abscess on my bowel. Had to stay back to stage 1 liquids. It's been 5 weeks now and still vomiting from most solids. Had an endoscopy last week. Everything looked good except some irritation, probably from throwing up everyday. I'm on heavy antacids and testing what makes me throw up. I can't do meats except Turkey, nothing fried, no breads, no eggs.....

Has anyone experienced food allergies post-op?

Some aversions, not so much an allergy. Beef is harsh, white meat chicken, and lettuce in salads - nada. I can eat raw vegetables, spinach but lettuce no!! White chicken and beef just don't sit well, even deli meat beef is a no. So I eat thighs and pork ribs/chops, ground turkey. eggs are okay.

I don't any new food allergies. After WLS, you will have food aversions. meats are often hard to tolerate. You are about 2 months post op, so I would say not to throw in the towel just yet. Make sure that when you try meat, to use a sauce and make sure the meat is moist. As far as bread goes, I would steer clear. I do eat whole grain bread, only, in moderation. But bread is a slippery slope for carbs. Also, if you do have whole grain bread, try toasting it. eggs are tough for me depending on how they are made. I hear a lot of people say that they can't eat eggs post surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
