I did. My nutritionist said one cup of regular per day, but the rest should be decaf.

Different rules for different groups, though.

Just be careful post-op, your liquid intake wont be the same as is right now.. post-op you would handle 32-48 oz of water per day. Dr recommends to avoid coffee due dehydration, I remeber having my first decaf by the third-fourth week post op, and my first regular coffee by 2nd month without any issues.. I a coffee lover and today at my close to 10th month I have my daily cappuchino ?

good luck!

Caffeine is a diuretic so don't drink it unless your getting your other liquids in. It can't count as part of your liquids. Decaf only the first month is to lessen the risk of an ulcer. Note decaf still has some caffeine.

My program allowed it until a few days before surgery. Then none at all until 4 weeks after surgery (the tannins and acid in it can cause issues with healing). I didn't want a caffeine headache with everything else so slowly stopped in the couple weeks leading up to surgery.

I drink mine with some of the premixed premier protein vanilla shake.
