I'm genuinely startled about how much hair I lose in the shower in the morning. I know this is normal, I'm one of the 40% of bariatric patients that go through telogen effluvium, the resting phase of hair follicles. Yay! (insert sarcasm here)

Thankfully, i have a thick head of hair and it isn't very noticeable. And I'm almost at the 6 month mark. I've added Biotin to my daily Vitamin intake and I know it will be okay. It's just scary. No bald spots, just some thinner areas, but it is very disheartening.

I've stopped washing my hair every day (I didn't do it before, but I'm down to 2-3 times per week, which I hate because my head feels so dirty!!), I don't brush it any longer and I'm treating my hair like a pair of pantyhose when I wash it.

I really hate this part. I know it is temporary, but I really really hate. it. (rant over)

Thank you for this. We are in the exact same boat. My hair has always been too thick so I haven’t hated the thinning but I’d love for it to stop now. I’m on some Hair Nail Skin stuff ( something like that) which has Biotin and I’m hoping the loss stops soon.

I am rowing in the boat with you all!!! LOL I take Biotin faithfully everyday. I am 4.5 months out and just this week I noticed the shedding is slowing down. It started thinning around 2 months out. Thankful for thick hair too!!!

At almost 4 months I’m seeing a lot of Hair loss. I have long hair but not thick hair. It’s freaking me out a bit. Kinda wish I had short hair so it’s not so noticeable all over the place... but not really lol long hair forever for me.

Happy to share this update......the shedding has stopped with some ironic twist. I used Biotin every singleday along with the rest of the Vitamin regime. I also used Redken Extreme Anti-Snap which is awesome. I have used the Redken for years when my hair was having issues. So the end result.....I have long hair, after the shedding it is thinner but not noticeable. The irony is my hair is 3 inches longer. My eyebrows and lashes are loner and thicker!!! Go figure!!!

So I just did some research because I am concerned about thinning hair. I have very fine hair, so any Hair loss looks extreme. I had no idea they have “hair fibers” to hide bald or thinning areas of your scalp. This was good to know, especially since hair loss from weight loss is only temporary. From the look of photos and reading reviews, these seems to work really well.

Hey, I feel the frustration, I also ran into same issue... hair falling and all over shower LoL... increase your Protein and don’t forget your biotin.. It will stop by 8th month.. same as you thankfully I have tons of hair and was not noticeable. Best of luck and hope this is just temp..

I am almost two years away and I am still suffering from this due to issues with Iron deficiency. The act that I have always had super straight and super thin hair has also not been very helpful.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
