gastric sleeve scars

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, it will be three weeks tomorrow since my surgery. What are you guys using on your surgery scars to fade them? Mine feels a little raised and hard. I hope it isn't scar tissue.

You might be prone to keloid scarring. Those who are prone to keloid scarring develop surgical scars that are raised, darkened and permanently hardened.

It's been 3 weeks since surgery. The typical laporascopic surgical incision heals in 14 days or less, so you're beyond that timeframe. What you see is what you'll likely deal with long term.

You can use Ambi fade cream to lighten the incisions.

Nonetheless, scarring is a trade-off I happily accepted in exchange for being a normal-weight person who can maintain the weight loss. My scars, to me, are badges of honor.

Good luck to you. :)

Vitamin E oil (as suggested by Surgeon), Bio Oil and ScarAway.

The best thing is time. I have to look for my scars to see them now.

Started using bio oil last night and will get some mederma scar cream today. I never had keloid skin, I sure hope this isn't the case. I go back to my doctor next week. I will inquire about this. Thanks guys!

Had a different surgery years ago and I'm prone to keloid scarring. Went to a plastic surgeon who injected the scars with cortisone injections and they flattened out. Insurance covered the procedure.

@Danny Paul, thanks for sharing that information. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. I think I will contact my dermatologist, he does cortisone injections.

It will take your body at least six weeks to completely heal and for the swelling to go down. Give it time. I can't even find mine 13 months out and I didn't do anything.

Don't sweat it yet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
