Anyone whose taken a ppi post surgery, how long did you take it for? I'm 5 weeks post op and have been taking a ppi daily. I haven't had a chance to refill my prescription so I've gone without for the past two days and now I'm suffering from heartburn. [emoji21]

Obviously going to get the refill done now lol, but is this a temporary side effect or something I will need to get used to?

I took Prilosec for a few weeks but switched to Nexium (I believe) later because I found out Prilosec interacts with one of my antidepressants. I was on the PPI for a couple of months and I haven't had issues since I stopped taking it. It will likely get better for you as time goes by.

My doc has me on it for 2 months, my surgery was 9/25

I am 9 months out, and I didn't fill my script for 3 days. By day two the heartburn was waking me up at night. I have never really had heartburn prior to this surgery.

My doctor gives a one month prescription to start and extends it if needed. I needed and took for two months then was able to stop.
