Is this my new normal?

I'm 18 days post-op, still on a full liquid diet. I have noticed that when I eat yogurt (the heaviest thing I currently eat) I am in the bathroom exactly 6 hours later, even if that is 1 am. I'm wondering about when I start eating solid food, will I always have a middle of the night bathroom run?

Also, when my intestines get active they are really noisy...like rumbling across the room noisy. Is all this just part of healing or am I going to have to get used to having an alien reside in my belly?

You won't know what is normal for you until 1 year post-op at least.

  • Nothing that is happening to your body right now will be a new normal for you. It may have some similarities. You maywant ant to steer clear of dairy for a few weeks. Loose stool is not u

  • I am over a year out and I definitely have the rumblies in my stomach all the time. Doesn't matter what I eat. It's just that things aren't digesting fully so there's a lot more gas than usual. Als

Sorry, that was unclear. I mean the sleeve is not as narrow as it would be if you just did a sleeve. So my stomach is sleeved, but bigger than your average sleeved stomach who doesn't also do the DS

Not a revision - did the loop DS + sleeve with Dr. Roslin at Lenox Hill - it's a smaller sleeve than you would get without the DS

Thank you. I don’t feel bloated or water weight. I just feel like I never had surgery. I guess I would probably feel that way since my stomach was cut years ago. I just feel like I did preop. Nothing feels different except the way I got the bathroom LOL I was just getting concerned and thought what if I did the surgery and didn’t lose any weight?

Have you ever lost 31 lbs. in 6 weeks? That's quite a lot. Plus, remember it's a revision and revisions don't typically lose as fast as virgin DSers.

Now a stat to make you happy, I lost 19 lbs. my first month with a virgin DS in 2005. I was thrilled as I'd never lost that much before in so short a time. :)
