How much help did you need?

So I'm trying to plan for after my surgery (3 weeks away) and I'm wondering how much help everyone needed. My wife is going to need to go back to work a day or two after I get home. Should I ask my parents or a friend to come stay with me during the day?

Also, how was doing stairs? My bedroom is on the second floor.

I had a revision from band to SIPS DS and went home the same day. I did have someone around the house for me the first few days but I didn't really need much help. I also had to climb the stairs (about 15 steps) and I didn't have a recliner but I just took it slow. I paced a lot during those first couple of days. It was the only way I could sip water. Sitting and sipping just did not work for me.

Oh. Then you must have a different nutrit. than Sharon. She's at Lenox Hill.

Yes. My nutritionist is named Debbie and I love her. She was so positive and kind and knowledgeable. I liked her better than any of the nutritionists I've worked with in the past.

  • 3 weeks later...

I know this feed is a min old but I'm currently on day 5 post op from my DS and I would say that by day 3 I could do the basic things for myself, even if it took me forever. I stayed 1 night in the hospital (my doctor said I could spend a second night if I wanted but I didn't). I take myself to the bathroom and am mostly forcing myself to get up and get my own jello/broth/medication so that I can get more walking in. I live in a split entry and the stairs have not bothered me as long as I take it slow, but once I'm on the top floor I have everything I need and don't have to go up and down the stairs multiple times a day. I did need my husbands help showering and dressing though, mostly because I couldn't dry my legs or bend over completely to get my pants on. The biggest thing I've needed my family's help with is watching my 4 year old. There's no way I have the energy to keep track of him right now
