Beef Jerkey

I was wondering if anyone had tried and either had trouble or success with eating beef jerkey. I used to LOVE the stuff when I was a kid and since I have been having these terrible snack cravings (especially at work when everyone else is munching on crackers and microwave popcorn) that jerkey might be a good way to get the protein in but wasn't sure if it was too dry or chewy to go through well. Heck, I don't even know if the stuff is good for me anyway with all the sodium and sometimes sugar content but I was just wondering.

I forgot about my turkey jerky! I ate it a lot when I got to solids. I used it as a snack or as lunch at school. It works great for snacking because you can't eat much and it sticks with you. Chew it real well. Try the better brands that aren't as dry. I used to buy the turkey teriyaki at Costco and it worked well.

Jerky is an excellent thing to have around. There is a Tillamook brand that is awesome. It can be ordered online as well.

I have an aunt who makes her own and it runs a pretty close second.

Yummm jerky! I wouldnt dare touch the stuff in the premade bags though.. just me.. I make my own.. buy a nice big beef roast slice it real thin and dry it.. I grew up with jerky.. my dad was a hunter so i had deer jerky, elk jerky.. and of course beef! Im glad i wouldnt have to give that up!

I use to make my own all the time, now I am wondering if I still have the recipe. I took some into a business one time and everyone there wanted me to make them some. It was good, and you could control the seasoning you put on it. I like hot stuff, so I had lots of hot peppers on mine.
