  1. Hi, I am 55, had band put in at age 52, no problems, would not change a thing. Go for it! Nancy
  2. An oldtimer here, had surgery in 2004 with Dr. Deol, plastic surgery 2005 waiting to have tt but would love to lose another 40 lbs so ins would pay some....but it is really hard to lose now Nancy
  3. I just drank what I needed to fill me up- I was very very lucky. For the most part for the first two weeks it was 2 -4oz and I was stuffed. I was also lucky that my Dr. started mushies after two weeks! I wish I had that restriction now..Good luck- Nancy
  4. :think Hey all! I was banded in August of 2004, lost 65 lbs and have kept 60 of those off for the last 2 years. I am really having problems lately sticking with the program. I had my last fill reduced due to pbing on just about anything. I still pb almost everyday. I find myself cheating with frozen cokes, etc cuz they go down easily. I quit walking, stopped drinking my water when my urologist told me I was drowning my old bladder! My throat is always sore and voice is raspy from getting things stuck and bringing things back up...what should I do. One part of me wants a fill cuz I can eat alot of things that I can eat- things that are not good for me, nachos, popcorn, chips oh, I can eat salads, vegies but almost all meats get stuck, all breads. I almost feel like I should see an ent Dr. like maybe I have polyps or something, but my band Dr. has done films of me swallowing barium and says that they look fine. Help. I want to finish this, I would like to lose at least40 more pounds and need to restart. Should I get a fill and start over like brand new with liquids, then mushies, then solids, what do you guys think....should I go to the pyschologist and nutritionist again? Please help me.... Nancy
  5. Hi, I am Nancy and am also a patient of Dr. Deol. You will not find anyone more caring than she and Rebecca. They are truly awesome...I had plastic surgery last year and was in to be refilled and Dr. Deol checked my wound and packed it for me...she is so great!....Hope you all do well. Nancy
  6. Hi, I don't know what part of MI you are in but Dr. Zoe Deol did my surgery at Troy Beaumont Hospital. She is awesome. Her office is on Dequindre in Troy. Hope that helps! Nancy
  7. I've been trying to find my bill to tell you the cost, but of course can't find it. Total was $7500 for both arms and breast lift, including hospital fees Nancy
  8. I just had my arms done in August, also a breast lift, of the two the arms were by far the worst....pain wise. But I'd do it again tommorrow! They are now healing nicely...what does the revision do for you? My scar is quite thick- my band surgeon told me that is cuz my skin has lots of collagen therefore not too many wrinkles on me...so I guess that is ok....I am scheduled for TT and Thigh lift in April.....will take 4 weeks off, is that too much time? Or will I need it? Wish you all well getting rid of your "wings"...as I said, I'd do it all over again. Nancy
  9. I think everyone gets a tad worried pre-op. I really liked my surgeon and her team and just trusted that they would take good care of me...I also prepared before hand by blending up soups and spooning them into ice cube trays...1 cube was dinner....it was sooo easy. Also stocked up on liquids. Popsicles were great, make your own with proein shake for extra protein....Good Luck. My surgery was a breeze!!!!! Nancy
  10. Hi- My surgeon will try to hide the scars as much as possible, but yes there will be a long scar but she thinks she can make it so that short sleeves will cover it completely....I said I didn't plan on wearing a halter top or anything, but she said I may do just fine and be able to wear whatever....so I'm going for it. Go for my fill next Friday....about 17 lbs to go. Nancy
  11. Hurray- I did it! I went for my ps consult, I was trying to lose 100 lbs first because I've heard that ins will pay, but decided I needed to ck it out and my ps said there is no way I can lose 40 more pounds....so, she siad try for 20 and then come in for pics and predetermination...but I can go and have arms andbreast done since ins will not pay for those anyway. So I am going to schedule for August for breast lift and brachioplasty...then next year I'll put in for the tt and thigh lift...now I must get that 20 lbs off.....here I go.... wish me luck and good restriction... Nancy
  12. This is absoulutely the best thing I have done for myself...not only is the weight going but my whole outlook on food has changed...It no longer controls me, I use to go to places for the food, the mall-pretzel, cinnabon, chinese food, the show- popcorn, coke, candy, the grocery store - what ever I could get fast...Now the food is not important, don't get me wrong, I get popcorn at the show, just not the 2 gal tub, no coke..and I survive and am proud of myself. Go for it!!! Nancy
  13. Hope you are feeling better, just hang in there. Each day you will feel better and better. Nancy of Armada, MI

  15. Thanks for getting my pics to go! Everyone looks great-how inspiring.... Nancy
  16. The thing that I craved was cottage cheese with tomatoes in it....I dreamed about that for almost 2 weeks and then had to peel the tomato it was sooo good...weird thing to crave...I have found that any food can be a problem, especially if I am trying to talk and eat at the same time....slow down and chew then I am fine...Chicken gets caught alot for me- but every thing else if I am careful is ok. Nancy
  17. Hi- I was really surprised and am very pleased with the bands performance. I still do get hungry, but eat protein first and that usually takes care of it...unless it is a mental-I'm bored, tired, cold, hunger. Then I try to eat things that do the least damage...a bowl of salad, peanut butter and crackers, beef jerky......I have lost 61 lbs, 22 before banding, I am now losing very slowly but that is ok, I can be patient at this point. I do sometimes grieve the loss, BUT, not as much as I thought I would...during the holidays I still felt like I was pigging out, but it was always 1/2 to 2/3 less than I would have eaten normally . Some how the being able to fit into size 12's is much more emotional than not being able to eat 3 slices of pizza and a 32 oz coke. I LOVE it!!!!!! Nancy
  18. You will absolutely love Dr. Deol....She is the best! She will make you feel like you are the only patient she has, her anesthesia team is also the greatest. I was a little nervous never having had general but after meeting the team-I felt very well cared for. Are you going to Beaumont or Crittenton? I went to Beaumont, it was great. Good luck- let us know if you need anything-I am close by so I'd be glad to get together...Oh there is a support meeting tommorrow night, Troy Community Center 7:00. I'll be ther if there is not too much snow. Good Luck Nancy
  19. Count me in!!! Which hall will it be in? What can I bring? Do you want to do prizes of some sort? You know person who travelle the farthest, oldest, most weight lost? If you need help with table centerpieces, etc. I am right here so let me know....anything I can do. Nancy of Armada
  20. Does anyone have an easy recipe, not too peppery. Also a turkey jerky one. Sounds good. Nancy
  21. By now you should be home and on your way to being thin...it is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Let us know how you are doing Nancy
  22. Count me in, I'm really close by. Nancy
  23. Weighing yourself each day is not a good habit to get into...I weigh myself 1 x week, but when I started I measured myself. That way if I have a week (or 4 weeks last month) when I am not losing, I can check to see how many inches I have lost. Over the last 40 years in ww. I have seen how fickle that scale can be, now it has no power over me, I just keep eating the right way, exercising and drinking and I know it (poundage)will eventually all come off. Good Luck, Nancy
  24. So many great stories, mine is not so different. I was a tiny baby 4lb 6 oz,at age 2 I could walk under the kitchen table and not even hit my head....I was the skinny kid that people always wanted to feed UNTIL the fat fairy hit me with her wand at age 13. I BLOSSOMED-a typical pear my hips were at least 1-2 sizes bigger than my top. I was convinced that I was FAT so I started on my long trail of neverending diets...Now looking back at sixteen I wore a size 14, I thought I was so huge (Iwish I could have stayed that fat) my first DH blessed me with the nickname CHUBS which I convinced myself was cute. I gained weight with each child (4) and new husband (1) until I found myself weighing 225, barely 5'1 and my feet were killing me....I tried every diet and exercise only to lose weight and gain it back again. I was so happy to hear of the band and started to entertain the idea of getting one and here I am all banded and losing. So glad to be amongst you all. Nancy
  25. Dr. Deol is the most awesome Dr. She is very thorough and will do a great job! Good Luck Nancy
