Help Craving Texture and to chew food

Hi all! I was sleeved6/14. I have a problem where I am craving to chew food. Not swallow just chew.... I have taken bites and spit it out (gross I know). I know i obviously need will power to stop this so please don't give me any rude responses back. I'm hoping if this gets easier? I really notice it when I'm cooking for my family. I am still on full liquids so can't eat but the need to chew almost feels compulsive. Am I the only one out there with this urge?

I am feeling the same way but powering through. I'm honestly shocked by those that are sneaking a few bites. I am so terrified of a leak that I don't dare. That is why my Dr and Nut said to stay away

she wasn't encouraging anyone to do anything. she was sharing her experience which is what this forum is supposed to encourage.

  • I have three more days of full liquids, unless something bad happens when I see the doctor. I am very tired of them. I've never tolerated meal shakes well. All of the protein I've chosen is supposedly

I've got three more days til purée stage as well but I'm not sure what to eat. Nothing is sounding too appealing as a paste.

Try some things that are almost a purée anyhow like refried beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta bake (ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce basically but to a search).

I tried to respond using the App, but the message window kept closing. Weird, huh?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to ricotta and refried beans. I hope we have some. I wanted to mention that I kind of get my chewing kick from my B-Complex. It's a pretty big wafer that I take little bites of and chew thoroughly. It doesn't taste bad either. (At first I thought it was going to taste like Orange Bariatric Advantage, but it's much better.)

I go to sonic and buy bags of pellet ice. I eat on it all the time. No calories it's frozen water and you can eat as much as you want. At least you get the crunch. It really helps me I'm 17 days post op.

JELLO. Seriously. You can chew it. It was a huge thing for me. Maybe try chewing gum too? And yes to sf popsicles.

I appreciate everyones honesty here. When I have a craving to "chew and cheat" I try to think about how much my inflamed stomach needs this rest to heal. I have 5 days to go before I can go to full liquids. I am excited to have some cream and bean based soups.

Here in Austria we go through the whole clear liquids, liquids, pure and solids in 4 days. Both sleeve and bypass.

I have been eating solids (with some restrictions like no seeds of any kind, no fresh bread and some veggies were not allowed) since day 4. But, everything has to be chewed down to puree.

That is my program, from my surgeon/hospital. I'm not encouraging anyone to do the same, I'm just saying that not all programs have you on liquids for weeks on end.

I didn't have to be on liquids before either, just soft food the day before surgery.

I am so envious!
