January 3, 200521 yr repeated PB's 1-3 x's a week can cause slippage, I was told that is the main reason for slippage.
January 3, 200521 yr also improper placement at the time of surgery has been an issue. violent, repeated vomiting. those are the two main causes.
January 3, 200521 yr isnt the band stiched inside to help prevent slippage? just a bubble thought.. from all the info i have been reading up on since i dont have the band yet... i read a lot
January 3, 200521 yr my dr. stitches the band in place to help with that yes...but I dont know if all do...good question though....I have one...what if you have the flu or something and u are sick...can it happen if you vomit from that too? I was sick awhile back and was vomiting, not excessively but I was, and was worried about that....but while I was sick I wasnt eating anything so I didnt know if I was still at risk??????
January 3, 200521 yr Yep. Repeated vomiting, no matter why or where it started can possibly have the band slip. All bandsters should really keep some type of anti-nausea prescription on hand in the event they get a bug, to help limit the vomiting as much as possible. If you've had no problems, I wouldn't worry. Some have gone to the hospital with severe vomiting/flu etc only to find that their band did indeed slip which causes more vomiting. In that situation, it would be hard to tell which came first, but if there is a persistent vomiting this could definitely be a danger. It is a good precaution, if you feel you have contracted a virus or food poisoning to have your band un-filled to help prevent slippage also.
January 4, 200521 yr Katie, I'm glad Dr. Allen assisted in the placement of my band. He must be pretty good to be the proctor for Inmed. He was also there for the repair of my haital hernia. Didn't get a chance to meet him, but I'm glad he was there.
