According to my Bariatric Discharge Instructions one of the conditions in which you should contact your surgeons office is

"New onset of upper back or left shoulder pain."

My doc said that it could hurt in your chest cavity and that was normal. Walking is the only way to alleviate it, supposedly it is reabsorbed into the body through activity. Walk every hour.

My doctor said GasX does not work on CO2 gas. I'm glad I did not open the box yet. Hello/Love Walmart.

I guess it just works on methane (intestinal gas).

I don't know if it was walking or just time, but I had that shooting left shoulder pain when I got out of the hospital too. It went away in under two weeks without any particular intervention. I'm assuming it was leftover CO2 and hopefully yours will pass soon :)
