It took me 8 days before I had my first BM after surgery. After a week, I finally felt like I needed to go, but I was constipated so I called my doctor's office and asked them if it was normal that I hadn't had a BM yet. They said that it was perfectly normal to go several days without one and that I could take Miralax and/or Milk of Magnesia if I was constipated. So I took Miralax and that didn't do anything. Added the Milk of Magnesia on Day 8 post op and I finally was able to go.

Keep in mind that prescription pain meds as well as Tylenol can make you constipated.

Decided not to leave hospital till I had some form of bowel movement. Had one on the third day post-op and went home almost immediately after

Took me about a week i think. Maybe 4 to 5 days. And don't strain. I now its hard (pun intended as well) but if i feel it happening and try to go and it doesn't im not pushing it (literally). I hope it is easier for you than it was for me lol.

I went 14 days and then finally...pooped. I thought it would be more than it was...but nothing to write home about

I Milk of Magnesia'd myself on day 6. Worth it.
