  1. Any weight you've gained in the hospital is from your IV. They really pump you full of fluids. I made the mistake of stepping on the scale 3 days post-op and was bummed until the internet told me what it was. You WILL lose! And you're healing great with no issues! That's terrific. You will feel even better in just a few weeks. I'm just over a month out and I feel like I have my life back. I had so much inflammation and arthritis in my body pre-op and that has completely vanished. I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes at a time. I'd avoid social situations for fear of a lack of seating. I couldn't walk even shortest distances without wheezing and feeling like my legs would collapse. I felt guilty feeling like I had to make my friends accommodate me, and that was the worst. I'm now walking great and further than I have in years. I don't have pain when I wake up and can even take the stairs without an issue. I feel great, and that's what I wanted most of all from this experience. The weight loss is a bonus. Good luck, everybody!

    Help, I have a leak

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Sending many positive, healing vibes your way.
  3. Here's a question for some long time sleevers and people who've achieved their goal. How did you deal with refocusing the energy that you used to put into food and eating into something else ? I'm keenly aware that some surgical weight loss patients become addicted to other things, like alcohol or sex, once the compulsion to overeat has been taken away from them. I worry about transferring my food addiction into something else that's unproductive. I like to say that I'll put it into exercise or hiking or something good for me, but I'm dubious long-term. How did you readjust that energy into something else?

  5. Thanks for this! You've eased my mind.
  6. Hi there! My surgery was on 2/13. I had a tricky hiatal hernia repaired at the same time and that made my surgery a lot longer - just over 4 hours. I had minimal pain in the hospital, and was up and walking at 6am with no problems. Since I've been home, it's been mostly a breeze with one concern. I'm not taking little sips of Water at all. I can do a big swig - probably just over an ounce -with no problem whatsoever. Occasionally I'll get a twinge, but I'm hoping this is normal. Anyone else swigging? I also echo the distaste for Protein shakes at this stage. I didn't love them before surgery but now I really loathe the cloying sweetness and funky film they leave in my mouth. Good luck, everybody!
