I had a question about traveling, has anybody been told to not fly 5 weeks after surgery? I'm being sleeved on 13th of April and I fly out may 23rd for a 4.5 hr flight. I've heard rumors you can't because of clotting but I've known people to fly a few days after surgery for those that go to Mexico and get their surgeries done. I was hoping since I would be 5 week after surgery I'll be fine. Just wanna know what you all been told. Thanks in advance

I'm only flying about 2.5 hrs at 5 weeks but my surgeon said it was fine. You might want to walk the aisle a couple times if you are worried.

I was notified not to fly/travel a month before or a month after surgery. They don't want you to be no further then a 3 hour drive from them.

Purchase thigh-high compression stockings, anyone over-weight should always wear them flying to avoid deep vein thrombosis.

I was advised no flying for 4 weeks ( I travel a ton for work). Partially because of risk of blood clots, partially because they said most complications happen within the first 4 weeks so I'd be close by their care if something happened. My first flight it booked for right at the 4 week mark.

My date is April 17. I start my pre-op diet on Monday. Feeling just a little terrified!

April 10!

I'm getting sleeved April 13th. Yay!!! Just think of all the hard work to get you approved and that got your there. I don't know you but I'm proud of you for being where you're at. The nerves are normal. The doctor told me it's normal to have nerves up until the day of. Don't worry they'll give you something for the nerves the day of. You'll be fine. Good luck. Can't wait. Hope to hear back from you the day or 2 after surgery. Blessings to you!!

Getting sleeved April 4th. Pre-op liquid diet is what it is. It's difficult and I feel weak and tired, but this too shall pass!!
