and thanks for the good wishes. I had an horrendous night again last night so the first phone call this morning was to the surgeon's office. I explained that I had difficulty keeping anything down and that whenever I tried to lie down I experienced a choking/drowning sensation which made me vomit. He said "your band is probably too tight - come in an see me right away and I'll fix it for you" - and he did. He took out I think 70ml (could be wrong on the amount) and immediately I could sit up and drink a 500ml glass of water - a miracle!!!! I couldn't believe it. He got me to promise to drink 2-3 litres of Gatorade over the next 12 hours which I'll do. I have had some liquid yoghurt and a small amount of mashed potatoes and gravy which I had cooked for the family yesterday. I look and feel 100% better.

So you were all right - I needed to get back to the doctor and the problem is now solved. I'll just wait for my next appointment at the end of next week and talk about tightening up the band then.

Can't tell you how much better I feel. thanks for your support.

Thanks for all the support following my surgery yesterday. Today I do feel a bit :sick but let me tell you - it's so empowering to know that we have all taken control of our lives this way. It's so exciting to have such a wonderful group to share it with. :becky:

Hi everyone,

I have been following along as a guest because I'm not used to chatting online...don't even know how to attach a ticker! I'm SO SO impressed with all of you I logged in and am taking yet another plunge!

I was banded on Oct 5th and have realized after a few bites of food today that I need to not fall into that trap....PLEASE tell mke I haven't blown it??????????????????

Sorry this is just my rambling thoughts hope ya’ll can make sense of it.

Well I am now 6 days post op and doing very well. Still cannot sleep in the bed as I sleep on my stomach so I am on the recliner. I still have a bit of pressure in my left shoulder and I am sure it is gas. Doesn’t hurt I just know it is there. I am on full liquids and today introduced rip banana 34 of one and I was full. My recovery has been smooth. Operation day was the worst a good bit of pain for me it was more from the cuts than gas, but the Dr gave me lots of good dope and I was able to check out and head home by 5pm. (operation was 9:30am) Walking for me has been the key and lots of water. I started drinking once I was in my hospital room and really have not had any trouble getting a min of 64oz a day in. I have 5 incisions and I have no idea what one is the port. Two are still very sore I think one was where they put the band in and the other must be the port. I have Dr appointment on Friday and will ask then, never thought to ask before leaving the hospital. Weight loss has been about a pound a day. I have not been hungry once and so far my diet has been slim fast, SF pudding, SF jello, and soup. First two days after banding I was on clear liquid that sucked. Today I had decaf ice coffee w/ skim, ¾ banana, one slim fast, cup of tortilla soup broth only, 1 cup of cream of mushroom, two SF instant puddings and I just finished a mashed up banana. Hope this helps a bit.

I'm excited and scared,I'm sure just as everyone is when it finally comes time...I have to thank all you guys who post. This website has become a regular routine for me. I feel like I know so many of you. I want people to know how much I appreciate when people open up and share. I don't think any post can be to small or ask a silly or stupid question. This forum has helped me so much in the last month and I'm so glad there are regular posts by so many of you. Together we can get through this. Hi everyone. newly banded on 8th Oct and my biggest problem has been gas. For those that awaiting to be banded , follow the doc advice and you should be fine. Don't be afraid (although I was) it really is fine and will be over before you know it.

Good luck everyone. Make sure you keep hydrated and walk, walk, walk!!

I got banded yesterday the 10th . Surgery wasn't bad, I only woke up in recovery with the nurse tell me to take deeper breaths.

When I got back to my room, the walking started.After I made 2 laps and went to pee they let me go home.

I didn't have to have my pain meds until right before bedtime so I think I may have been pushing.

Today I am very sore, I got 5 cuts, they repaired a hernia. I go back to let them look at me in 2 weeks.

Oh, and last but not least, I ended up with a total of 13 pounds lost.I would like to lose another 100 but I thnk the doctor has a different, he has on my chart 170 pounds.
