Sleeve and hiatal hernia

Has anyone had the sleeve and hiatal hernia repair? My surgeon said she won't do the sleeve with a hernia she will only do gastric bypass, which I am not comfortable with having.

She would do the repair at the same time but just won't do a sleeve. She says she will only do the bypass and hernia repair. She won't even consider a sleeve with a hernia.

She says it will make my acid reflux alot worse... but from what I have seen and read is that even with a bypass you could develop ulcers and have acid problems as well.

I had the same thing done. I am 2 days post op but I get this weird feeling in my chest when I lay down or eat but it is not a burning sensation. I didn't have reflux before. Is your getting better? I brought some tums and I guess it is working.

Thanks! Yeah I'm just not comfortable with the bypass and really want to have to sleeve done. So hoping I can get a surgeon that will do the sleeve.

I had my sleeve and a hernia fixed at the same time. Didn't even know I had a hiatal hernia until they went in. Found out it was a minor one and gave me one small stitch to fix it. My doctor said it's common and he does it all the time.

I had sleeve with a hiatal hernia. I had to take PPI meds for two months but have been fine since. I am three years out.
