Hiatal hernia and sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am 2 days post op and it feels like I have a small lump in my throat when I swallow. I am thinking it is from the hiatal hernia repair but I don't know much about how people feel after that surgery. My hernia wasn't very large but when I inhale deeply I can feel some discomfort. Has anyone had both done, did you have similar symptoms, and did you eventually feel normal again?

I had a large hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve. I did not feel like a lump in my throat, but sometimes a light pressure where the esophagus meets the stomach. A lump in the throat would be higher up and usually caused by anxiety or uncertainty. Ask your surgeon about it and hopefully it will go away soon.

I had a hernia after my original sleeve and just had it repaired during the revision surgery. I feel much better. Now that it''s gone I can tell how much pain it was causing me!

Are you on a proton pump inhibitor like protonix or omeprazole? Tums isn't enough to battle the level of acid most of us have post op. That's what it sounds like to me. I had a hiatal hernia repaired when I had my surgery and needed a PPI for two months post op then I was fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
