Hi everyone,

I was sleeved 11/11. I'm 2 weeks post-op. My period was supposed to come this week, but it's no where in sight. No PMS symptoms or anything either. I'm definitely not pregnant! This is also the first time I've been off the pill in about 11 years, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Anyone experience delayed/absent period after WLS?

Well, I haven't been through WLS yet...but, I didn't have a period when I was in Basic Training in the Army. It was a major shock to my body--lack of sleep, drastically increased physical activity and STRESS! I imagine as much as a shock WLS is to your body, not having a period is very possible.

It's common for a woman's cycle to be thrown off after surgery. I was on birth control for several years and stopped/ ran out 2 weeks before my surgery. Before wls i was only regular with my with birth control. But I've been without it about 2 months and have had my second consistent period (tmi). The first one was about a week late i think of what it should have been, but maybe 2 weeks or more after surgery. But when i stopped the pill i expected to not get one for a while since that's what always happens for me. But im going to monitor my cycles more closely now to get a feel for them post birth control. Until i find a more permanent solution. I wouldn't stress it too much if there is no way you can be pregnant. Just make sure you're getting what you need and plenty of rest. That and maybe ask your gyn if it's really worrying you.

The surgery, for whatever reason, does throw off our cycles....everyone is different, but still....1 1/2 years later, mine is still iffy at times, just now getting back on track Your surgeon should have told you, at least the first year, we tend to be SUPER fertile...lots get preg in the first year...so be extra careful

My surgeon said I can go back on the pill as soon as I start my period... just playing the waiting game!

Thrown way way off. Debating between mirena iud or nexplanon implant to get this under control. I've been bleeding for over 2 months.

Btw, I had the mirena our prior to surgery and still do, works great and pre op it lessened my periods a lot, getting back to one maybe every other month now and fairly light and short, whew :-) now I am jumping insurance hoops hoping to get a hysterectomy....get this crap out, causes more trouble than it's worth (long history of issues) plus I don't and have never wanted kids so I want it all out :-) stay safe......Val

I am on my second Mirena and I do love it...no remembering, etc....it also mellows out the horrible symptoms I was having before.....super bleeding, premenopausal, etc..The worst part was the pain of insertion and removal...for me anyway, especially since never having kids (spreading of stuff down there)...but it was over pretty quick.....getting thick black stitches taken out of my hand was a close second in pain level.....even the surgery pain was much less....not trying to scare you, just info worth it though and it does go away fast....make sure to take ibuprofen/pain meds before and after

Thanks, that's what I've heard - no kids here either, so... I think a few minutes will be worth it though.
