Yeah in the beginning you're recovering but when you start moving and feel better then it will suck... But you get use to it and find a routine. I still eat pizza but a tiny version of what I use to eat. If you're like me you'll have to confront your dysfunctional relationship with food and it will be a break up. Eventually the head hunger moves on and you'll hang out with the ghost of head hunger. You're normal and it is hard. Best of luck to you

The first week post op I very vividly dreamed about food every night. I felt soooooo hungry. I read that your body still has residual grehlin immediately after surgery, hence the hunger. This pretty much went away the second week. I'm on my third week now and am never hungry nor do I think of food. Good luck.

Glad I'm not the only one ... I'm one week post op and it's been so difficult not to think about food.. reading everyone's progress makes me feel so much better!

Omg!! I thought I was just FAT! Here it is I have had surgery and am still hungry. Who does that. I feel so much better knowing I wasn't the only one. I had surgery on 10/24 and the biggest part is having a hungry teenager, an 11 year old and a three year old. I have nibbled on some of their food but decided to stop because it defeats the purpose of making this decision.

Absolutely what LxA said "you'll have to confront your dysfunctional relationship with food and it will be a break up. Eventually the head hunger moves on".

I second that!

I'm 3 weeks post surgery and the vivid food dreams were crazy. I woke up convinced that I had eaten Nachos and hot dogs (foods I rarely ate before). I still feel hunger, but less frequently and definitely not in relation to something I see or smell.
