  1. How is everyone doing?
  2. I also had to tell work something, so I said I was having a hiatal hernia repair. Despite the fact that is a not as common surgery, it does accompany a special diet which would help deflect the weight loss questions afterward. You should read up on it, people do have it repaired during surgery and my doctor has you do an endoscopy as part of your per-surgery testing, so there is partial truth. I also said I was using that surgery and the special diet to get myself back on track with being healthly . Good Luck!
  3. Thanks man! Now I have to find a gym partner like you to work out with!
  4. Hi All, Just curious how long you all lost weight for. Was it 6 months, 9 months, a year? Just curious on the average amount of time. I know it slows down, but wondering. I am at the 4 month mark, doing everything right so far, protein, liquids and exercise and I feel it's a little slow. I am fine with that, as long as it all comes off. Starting weight was 311, was 255 today, so yes, I know that is good, just seems a little slower than others I read on here. Thanks
  5. Hey Man, love the videos, I can relate to you in so many ways. Good luck with everything! I am 4 months out and very happy I had the surgery. It is hard work, but I am up for the challenge. Dr. Bertha really is the best, he is also my surgeon..... he did my lap band back in 2008 and my sleeve last year. I will keep an eye out for more video updates. Good Luck!
  6. Thank you all for the advice. I not thrilled with using free weights - just not super comfortable with it....trying to building up to it..
  7. Just wondering if you guys found any exercises that really helped with firming up the chest. I really want to tight up these man boobs!
  8. That is awesome, congratulations! I hope I am as successful as you! Question for you, do you exercise a lot? I am at 4 months, lost about 52 pounds, slower than I wanted but I feel kind of loose and flabby. Been working out at least 5 times a week for the last 8 weeks.
  9. Just hit the 3 month mark, how is everyone doing? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. Awesome.....you look amazing.... I am just 3 months out, lost 50 pounds so far. I hope I lose as much as you... did it all come off quickly? Any loose skin? I sometimes feel like I am moving slow. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  11. Had the band in 2008, had it removed in 2015. It was semi successful, but I had many problems over the years, which finally resulted in getting it removed. Was sleeved in November, and could be happier. I feel much better and don't have any of the issues I had with the band. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  12. I met with my nutritionist yesterday, she indicated I may need more protein. Also that our bodies only can absorb so much protein an hour, so if your drinking a protein shake and it has 35 grams and it only takes you 40 minutes to drink it, your are not getting the maximum amount of protein out of it. Which I guess makes sense.
  13. Hey Everyone, Today is 5 weeks... wow, that went quick. Thank God because I was full of regret the first week only because I felt sorry for myself that I had to get to this point. Anyway, I am down 34 pounds, started at 311, today 277. I think I am doing well. Been walking as much as possible, will get in the gym by the New Year (my gym closed, new one was supposed to open Dec 15th, but is delayed). Doctor cleared me to eat whatever, just to,be cautious, I'm doing a good a job. However I find that I am still hungry. I get my 64-70 of Protein, drink more than 64% of Water and take my Vitamins. I thought the hunger would kind of go away. At this point it doesn't seem to be. My plan is pretty strict with 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks, trying to stick to that. Anyone further along and still hungry? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  14. Awesome man, that is very encouraging. Regarding any loose skin, do you think the creams really helped? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  15. Tomorrow is 16 days post op, not sure I should stray from my full liquid diet... was thinking maybe just a spoonful of mashed potatoes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  16. Can't you call your surgeon? I'm sure someone is on-call and can answer a question if you are really concerned. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. So happy to hear this.... been so hungry. Today is day 9 post op..... just trying to remain positive! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  18. Hi All, One week post op and I and so bored of Soup and Protein shakes.....as much as I try to mix it up, it's brutal. When will I stop feeling hungry? How long were you all on this liquids stage? Wish I could fast forward! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  19. Mine was same day surgery. Had the surgery at 11:00 am and was home by 5:00pm. Once out of recovery they had me up and walking around, drinking and peeing. I was fine to go home. Hardest part was coming out of recovery. Same as when I had the band in and out - think it depends on what your Dr thinks is best. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  20. The mental hunger is really something, I wasn't expecting that. I was sleeved on the 8th, I think I doing well, but I am very moody as well. Sitting here most of the time thinking why the f did I do this. I think we are in the same boat dude. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  21. OMG, I'm hungry and bored! I'm not sure if I'm full either, but I am just going with what feels right. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  22. The mental piece is no joke.... 5 days post op and wishing I had some of the classes you folks talk about! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. I kind of wish I can just fast forward a month or so and feel normal. I spent some time reading my nutritional, packet this afternoon (which I have previously read before..multiple times) and am thinking what the hell did I do this for - is seems so restrictive forever. I don't think it helps that my wife and kids are not super compassionate about the whole scenario. One day at a time I guess. Thanks for the positive comments Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
