Having a bad day!

Hi!

I'm 2.5 weeks post op from my bypass and 3 days post op from my complication surgery. Today is just one of those days where I haven't wanted to drink any Water and don't have the urge to eat at all! Does anyone else experience these "bad days" I had NO desire to drink a Protein shake tonight so I'm having a yogurt instead? I guess it's better than nothing

I really need some motivation to keep going and not let this bring me down!

You have to stay hydrated at least or you'll be back in the hospital. Try something other than water - hot tea, iced tea, Powerade Zero, sf popsicles, sf jello, Vitamin Water Zero, G2, crystal light, etc. I wouldn't worry about eating right now. Dehydration is dangerous though so drink as much as you can. Stay strong!

I eat unsweetened applesauce if I'm really struggling. It's not as hydrating as water of course, but it does give you some hydration if you're really really struggling.

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.

We are essentially starving and physically recovery from surgery is very taxing on the system. This can cause "bad days". It's like a temporary depression. Get your fluids and rest. It will get better.
