I hate that too! But now people at work are used to me and my weird eating -- I either bring my own lunch, or disassemble the sandwiches provided and eat the meat/cheese only, and no one bats an eyelid.

If you are on solid foods, sounds like a great opportunity to find ways to make do with what is provided. Eat the inside of sandwiches, topping off pizza, etc. I eat out a lot including having meals at friends homes and so far all has worked out

Been there, done that. My office constantly has "lunch-ins". In many ways, it feels like a social obligation, or like you are not being a "team player" if you don't join in. As you progress, you will be able to pick and choose from the available items so that you are still participating.
