How much should I be able to eat

So today I ate an entire banana in one sitting. I ate slow of course but kept waiting to get full and didn't. I'm worried my "pouch" is too big? I'm almost 2 weeks out and this is the most I've eaten. I usually don't stop when I'm full, I stop when I start to feel a small amt of pressure.

  • The average banana is over 4 ozs (peeled) - which at 2 weeks out my plan suggests 1-2 ozs of pureed foods at a meal. How much are you supposed to have? Mushed/pureed foods will quickly go through you

Eeeeek! So you don't want real advice that pertains to your questions? You'd prefer limited validation? You might want to block me now to relieve and undue stress I might cause!

  • Why are you eating bananas ?

Thanks shaunie. I actually thought about that. However, I'm not allowed Peanut Butter until next week for whatever reason. I usually stop before I'm full. Usually when the hunger sensation goes away, I stop eating. Getting my Protein in has been a constant struggle for me. Since the surgery I've not found a shake that doesn't make me vomit. My doctor actually told me to stop trying because I dehydrated myself. I did get some unflavored gene pro and try to add it to things it will mix with.

I agree the Protein intake is a challenge in the beginning. You will get there! I'm 9 weeks post op and find I'm able to eat a lot more but have been able to appreciate the learning process inthe beginning so help me stay focused on food choices. Its for sure an everyday, every meal challenge.

Good luck ;-)

I agree protein shakes are not the most appetizing :'(

I just recently been drinking the whey protein chocolate peanut butter and its not so bad. If you haven't noticed I'm a peanut butter lover lol

Stay positive! !!!

I have never seen a 4 tbs banana. I would weigh and stick to ounces.

When mashed, you can easily measure 4 tbs.

And the banana I had was mashed and just shy of the 4 tbs. I am "sticking" to what my NUT suggests and if she says tbs, then that's what I'll do. Everyone's plan is different

Since you brought this up...

And my answer isn't FOR YOU, it's for anyone reading. :)

I can take a large banana full of sugar, little protein', throw it in my food processor and reduce it to 4 Tablespoons.

I can also take 3-4 cups of puffy Cheetos, throw them in my food' processor and reduce those down to 4 Tablespoons.

Measure it before you mash it. Just a thinking point for those who are receptive.

;)

I would have to say - if getting in your protein is a constant struggle - eating a banana instead of a protein-rich food was probably not a good choice. If you are waiting for the hunger sensation to go away before stopping eating - you will end up eating far too much and possibly cause complications. If you don't care about that - then I don't understand why you posted a question in the first place. You were the person who got incredibly rude with people and are acting as you are the know-it-all. If you only ate 4 tbs and that's what your NUT suggested - then why did you think it was too much?? Why did you ask the question in the first place - if you already knew the answer?!!

I'm guessing as long as it sit fine with you then it's all good ....I'm with you...I follow the plan given to me by MY Bariatric team ....and bananas are on my plan...been eating them since the puréed stage [emoji3][emoji106] Enjoy!!

I heard that there's some controversy behind GENEPRO. Check out MelanieSlicedThinner on YouTube if you're interested.

Negative people. People who like to judge. People who think they know it all.

Sigh.

People who ask questions, get real answers, get angry...

Sigh.

The point is to answer the question(s) they ask. Real answers are great as long as they are the answer to their question. Everything else is irrelevant. Get it? :)

Did you have a real answer or just critical comments about other forum members??

I disagree. My answers are for the benefit of EVERYONE reading and a lot of times, what seems like a yes or no question is actually so much more. I'd say most people who spend their valuable time here attempting to pay it forward are doing so because they care. Nothing "irrelevant" about that.

I'd throw in a flippant "get it" and an emoji, too, but I am sure that would be taken as sarcasm. ;)
