I thought my insurance company would take weeks to approve my surgery after I finished the 2 month nutrition program. Wow, was I wrong! I'm scheduled for surgery on Sept. 22. When the doc's office called me last Friday, they initially wanted me to come in on Sept. 16. I hemmed and hawed and got a week's more time to try and get my head around this process. Kinda overwhelmed at this point.

Wow congrats!! Looking forward to your progress. If you don't mind me asking, what insurance do you have?

And I think you had the shortest nutrition program I've seen so far!

Mine was the same- first appt. beginning of December- first NUT appt mid December. Had sleep study end of December followed by another NUT appt in Jan. Final appt with surgeon end of Jan had my ins submitted and approved 2nd week of Feb. My surgery was 3/23 because I was traveling March 5 for a week and he was out of town the following week.

My insurance didn't take long at all either. I actually had went through a nutritionist before and my primary doctor just wrote a letter stating I have been, under care for 6 month or more and I think she said a year but I've been going to her for years to help me with my weight. I can take any diets pills thyroid issues so everything has to be natural. So the insurance company said I needed the letter from my doctor and a psychological test and that was it. They called me and told me when I could have my surgery and my pre test screening which is tomorrow. I have blue cross blue shield, I'm in Michigan.

Thanks for all the responses. My insurance is United Health Care. I'm an employee of the hospital where the surgery will be done.

You are so lucky. My program is 6 months long. I had a hard time finding a nutritionists that isn't 300 dollars a visit. Evergreen Health doesn't have one that is close to me. I don't know if I have be aproved or not my surgery will be in December. I am in the program at FSH in Maryland. I don't recommend it at all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
