Post Operation Pain

I am not scheduled yet for surgery. Might br November.

Reading about all the pain people are dealing with. I know it is not everyone. My question is "The older you get does your pain tolerance decrease?"

Or does it have anything with your age? I have had totally knee replacements on both knees and servived.

I only plan on taking a week off. Not filing FMLA and management does not know.

  • I don't know about pain tolerance and age. I will say that I think what most people struggle with when they return to work is not so much pain, as it is (1) exhaustion and (2) being able to meet fluid

  • I had my surgery August 1st this year . I stay one night in the hospital . I have not taken any pain meds. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  • After having two total knee replacements this sleeve surgery is going to be a non-event for you. I was laughing about how little it hurt....it was almost like I'd not had surgery.

6 weeks off?!?! I'm taking 4 weeks off from work and I'm thinking that's too much! I hope it doesn't take 6 weeks or more to recover and go back to work!

My surgeon told me that he advises most sleeve patients to take one week off. He likes us getting back to our normal schedules as soon as we can.

He advised me a bit longer due to the abdominal hernia repair.

I took 3 weeks and that was good for me.

The sleeve was not a source of significant pain in any way. If that's all I'd had then a week would have been plenty.

It's like he said....."Laying around the house is not what I want you doing".

Thank you

Yes 6 weeks and I'm glad that I did because during the six weeks they found out that my gallbladder was bad as well and I had to have it removed last Thursday this is a major surgery and the body needs time to heal

I had 6 weeks off and my stomach is not tolerating too good. I go back to work next week. I don't know what I'm going to do

I'm taking two weeks off. I'm 10 days post-op and started back walking almost immediately. I feel great and my energy level is fine. I'm still on full liquids, getting plenty of protein (Premier

Protein shakes) so that's got to be why I feel good.

Like others, I felt I had not had surgery. No side effects, nausea, pain. I was astounded that it was so non invasive. I was 66. No pain meds needed at home, just a little rest.

Well, I felt like I got hit by a truck for the first 2 days! And achey like I was coming down with the flu. But by the end of the first week I felt 90% normal.

6 weeks sounds like a long time to not feel well....what does your surgeon say?
