August 24, 20169 yr I am not scheduled yet for surgery. Might br November. Reading about all the pain people are dealing with. I know it is not everyone. My question is "The older you get does your pain tolerance decrease?" Or does it have anything with your age? I have had totally knee replacements on both knees and servived. August 24, 20169 yr Popular Post I don't know about pain tolerance and age. I will say that I think what most people struggle with when they return to work is not so much pain, as it is (1) exhaustion and (2) being able to meet fluid and protein goals while having to focus on work as well. August 26, 20169 yr I came home on a Wednesday and I only took pain meds that day and Thursday. After that I didn't need it any more. I just turned 51. My procedure was on July 27th this year. August 26, 20169 yr I'm 55. Had surgery this Tuesday. Had IV pain meds in hospital on Tuesday, switched to oral on Wednesday. Discharged Wednesday. Used 1 pain pill Wednesday night to help sleep. Took 2 Tylenol yesterday. Worked 4.5 hours from a chair in my living room yesterday and working from home today. Plan to go in for half a day on Monday. I've had 2 c-sections. This is a walk in the park. If you've done knees, you should have no issues, but YMMV.

August 28, 20169 yr Im 29 3 days post op lots of pain for me mostly gas pain and muscle pain. Ive had to take pain meds everyday i feel i have a high pain tolerance but this was no joke! There is no way i could go back after a week I did also have my gallbladder removed and a hernia repair at the same time

I was laughing about how little it hurt....it was almost like I'd not had surgery.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My surgeon told me that he advises most sleeve patients to take one week off. He likes us getting back to our normal schedules as soon as we can. He advised me a bit longer due to the abdominal hernia repair. I took 3 weeks and that was good for me. The sleeve was not a source of significant pain in any way. If that's all I'd had then a week would have been plenty. It's like he said....."Laying around the house is not what I want you doing".
