Today. Was. Rough.

Today was my husbands 30th birthday. I made New York strip steaks, potatoes, and fresh green Beans followed by german chocolate cake. And I didn't have one bite. Obviously. I'm 11 days post op. It was hard. Really hard. I've realized how much celebrations are surrounded by food. Then I took him to a movie. It was the first I think I've ever been to a movie and didn't get popcorn. That was hard too. I know I'll eat steak and pop corn again. But it's seriously like mourning a loss of a friend. Food was a friend. Anyway, hope you can all relate. I know this is worth it. There are just really hard times.

also to add. Today was kinda cool though, i realized I can Celebrate and go to the movies and I don't "have" to eat the food there. Currently drinking my Protein drink. Ha. Sent from my iPhone usi

  • I hope he appreciated what you endured for him. I've always enjoyed cooking/grilling. I simply ceased all that for a two months of time bracketing my pre-op 14 day liquid diet and the 6 weeks aft

At first, he didn't want me to. He was so nervous id get sad and depressed which sure, I did but it came and went. He actually has been staying away from sugars/ breads/fast food etc since my surgery

I can relate to this SO much! I am 13 days post op and avoided going to the movies for my first week because I was afraid I'd want popcorn so bad! Now my boyfriend and I have been 3 times this week and he hasn't gotten popcorn in support of me. Feels like a tiny victory bypassing the concession line ea ch time.

Next time you are cooking for others, make yourself something fun and healthy too. That way you are distracted and not feeling deprived or tempted to eat what you cooked for others.

I know we are not supposed to but I sneak Protein shakes to the movies. Put some extra effort to make yourself a kind you don't usually make so you are excited for your own drink while others munch on their popcorn.

I also went to the movies two times less than 14 days post op my friend bought popcorn thought I was going to die but I made it!! 2nd time I was ok but really was glad I didn't try any. I also had 3 retirement dinners I had Water at. But, it was worth every minute I thought I wanted to eat because today I am doing great 72 lbs down since March 15!!
