Chew and Spit

I've heard of people doing it and I think it's a very, very bad idea. How far out are you? Why can't you eat?

When I want to eat something that I cannot eat I chew it until it's mush and than spit it out. It helps with the hunger pains from not being able to eat. Does anyone else do this?

It's a form of an eating disorder. It's a very dangerous habit to get into. It also starts your stomach juices for digestion and can cause issues.

I have been working very close with my surgeon and nutritionist. I have tried every form of Protein and anything other than Water and I throw up. I have heard before it's a eating disorder but didn't think I want that bad. Just drinking water is so nasty sometimes. I can't even get Vitamins in. They were going to put me on a Vitamin patch but I'm allergic to adhesive. The next step is IV vitamin infusion.

when I was in my nutrition class I asked if I could chew and spit just for the tastes I was missing. She said definitely not!!! You still get the calories and fat and sugar when you swallow the saliva from chewing the food. Not a good idea.

Ugh. I am SO sorry you are having this trouble. I had a stricture and had it dilated twice and felt instantly better. I hate that hasn't worked for you! I hope they are watching you very closely. I worry that you cannot intake any Protein or Vitamins. Keep us posted!!
