Depression and pre-op

I started my pre-op diet today and all I want to do is cry. Im feeling blue and it's not from hunger. I can't figure out what I'm feeling. Maybe it's just nerves because I leave for Mexico on the 4th to have surgery on the 5th. Maybe it's because I can't binge eat. I don't know. I just want to cry and huddle under the blankets. Anybody else feel this way pre-op?

I've been on the liquid diet for 13 days, the first 4 were the worse, after that it becomes much easier. Drink plenty of Water, it helps with the headaches. Trust me, by day 5-6 you won't even feel hungry anymore.

Good luck!

I was feeling that same blue feelings too. I realized I was leaving my best friend, my comforter, my lover, and my protector. food was everything to me, everything but nutrition. I began to journal and write my feelings. I than breath deeply and I realize food will still be here with the job of fueling me and nothing more. Your doing all the right things for a healthier you. Keep going forward. Your got this.

What all the others said. And I can't emphasize enough how much talking to a counselor can help when you're going through this process of learning to rely on other coping mechanisms. Look into some counseling if you can
