July 26ers

Thought I'd start a thread for those that are having their surgery July 26th so we can all vent/compare how we are feeling at each stage of the journey. How is everyone feeling at this point? I keep getting this question: Are you stressed or excited? My answer is both!

I can't sip or have ice yet, I'm so dry. I also have constant nausea. They have tried 3 different nausea meds and I'm still dry heaving. Pretty miserable. Convinced that it will get better every day

Same here. I can only swab inside my mouth.

Yes, they tried everything. I am finally over it, I think. Still nauseous, but not too bad. No incision pain. Glad you are doing well.

Going down for my swallow test soon. Hopefully I will get some ice chips after that. Funny the things we look forward to.

Good morning! I was shocked, I got to sleep pretty quickly (midnite by the time I got in bed) and slept well the whole 4 hours I got. Up to get ready, leaving in a half hour. So excited! Good luck today all! We got this! Today is a new start to a healthier us!

Sorry I haven't updated till now! I've been so exhausted from the pain meds. Couldnt even type a short text without being wiped out.

Had my surg 730AM Tues. All went well. Woke up in recovery with nurse having to tell me loudly over n over to take a deep breath. I have sleep apnea and apparently i kept stopping breathing while in there. That was a major struggle cuz all I wanted to do was sleep.

Didnt have the gas pain, but had alot of pain in my back so it took till about 5pm to get on top of that with Dilaudid(?) once that really kicked in i slept well. Even missed visitors that stopped by, along with my surgeons visit.

All is going well. Passed my leak test n started liquids about 9AM yesterday. Could only use swabs up till then. They wouldnt let me do the biotene spray so had horrible dry mouth. Havent been hungry yet.

Was released to go home about 5 last night. Now am trying to stay ahead of pain. Had a bad time getting to sleep last night and started to feel like i shouldve stayed in hosp one more night. But i took the pain, nausea and spasm meds and got thru it.

My challenge now is to obviously get all the liquids in along with timing out all my meds (thyroid, wellbutrin, prilosec plus the pain meds)

So glad everyone is doing well. I just keep holding on to the thinking that most peeps feel much better days 3, 6 and 14.

I never get all 10 spirometer breaths in per hour. Thats been hard. Can only breathe till about 1500 so far.

Never had the feeling of regret or buyers remorse we hear so much about. Am so thankful that i had this opportunity and am not looking back. Only ahead to much healthier and happier days! So lucky to have all of you to share the journey!
