I can't wait!!

I started 10 days ago on Optifast as I was on a goodbye to food tour and needed to take myself in hand. Have lost 9lb .. yah me!! Starting weight was 287, goal 177.

Look forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Hey Susie, Welcome..... You are being banded one day before me, I'm being banded on the 16th....

WTG on the weight loss already..... I just haven't been able to take control yet of my bad eating habits... So good job!!!!

It's great to have an Aussie on this journey with us....

Hi All and WELCOME to the newbies. I am from Pa and heading to Denver for banding at Dr K 's on Oct 4th. I spoke with the nutritionist today and it finally hit me that this is really going to happen. yeah !!!! I am glad you will all be there going thru this with me.....................Lori

Lafs.... How was your consultation with Paula... I have mine coming up next month... She has emailed me the post-op eating schedule, etc and I have read through it a couple of times and will do it again before my consultation with her....

Does she give you good ideas and lots of information to help in your success of the band? What did she suggest that you do for your pre-op diet?

I am soooooo looking foward to getting my band....

Thanks for the welcome, it is finally coming closer, I can't believe it. I have been considering this for almost 2 years and it is zooming closer. I am going to my naturalpath today for some advice. I hear that many lose their hair etc. I want to make sure I take good care. I will visit my family doc in 3 weeks for the preop. I am going next week for the blood work and eeg. I start on optifast in 2 weeks. Wow. I can't believe it!!!

I spoke with Paula the nutrition expert and she tells me I need to be on a high protein , low carb diet for 1-2 weeks prior to surgery. Back to Atkins ! From what I have read, You need to maintain your protein intake to prevent the hair loss that people report. This is why I am ordering protein powder from unjury. They have an unflavored powder that you can mix with everything. I would hate to finally get thinner and bald at the same time. LOL !

I have my formal consult with her in about a week. I bought some papaya enzyme tabs to keep on hand, supposedly they help if you get obstructed.

Yep, That's what I was told by Dr K, was that I needed to do a low carb high Protein diet for about 10 days to 2 weeks pre-op.. So I will do Atkins again..lol..

I was able to find some good whey Protein powder from GNC that was pretty reasonable in price.. I got one of the flavored ones and it has 20 grams of protein per scoop which you mix with 8 ozs of liquid. If I remember right, I think they had some unflavored too.. I need to go back and take a look as I need to start getting prepared...

Thanks for the welcome nicnak. I'm counting down the days.

I'm reading your pre-op diets enviously. Atkins sounds like heaven, I'm on OptiYUK and some lovely Protein to chew would be divine!

BUT, I don't trust myself to do anything in moderation ATM so I'll stick to my shakes, at least I have no desire to binge on those! ;)

Susie

Hello and a BIG Welcome to all of the new October bandsters, LSzeliga, Cheri, and Mandy...

LSzeliga.... I'm being banded by Dr K on the 16th... Good Luck to you on the 11th...

Cheri and Mandy.... You are getting banded just one day apart... Good Luck to both of you... Keep us posted on how you do...

<p>Hi, I'm Barbara. I just got my surgery date this morning! OCTOBER 5TH! I am very excited as I was told I would have to go through "program" for a year as required by my insurance.....but I got the approval letter yesterday! I've already done all of the requirements! I can't wait! I'm looking forward to this journey and will be keeping in touch with all of you for support and suggestions as we travel together!

Here's to a healthier us!:whoo:

Hi Everyone and welcome to the new ones,

Hey Cheryl, we're going the same day ! I'm counting down to Oct. 4th.

I got my Magic Bullet today {it's a blender , not a toy Ha Ha}

It is so cool. I made chicken salad and milkshakes for my husband's lunch. It will make great protein shakes.

My husband has been so great and I think he's getting excited too. Today he suggested that we make a chart for the bathroom door so we can celebrate my losses. I will always remember that he loved me fat and he will love me the same when I'm thinner.

I hope that you all have someone to support you. If not, we will !!! You will never be alone.

I made my reservations at the Holiday Inn Select in Parker. They gave me a great rate $79 a night for king suite with microwave and fridge. Remeber to ask for the Parker Adventist Hosp. discount and get the non refundable rate. Saves $40 a night.

Any other nurses out there? I'm an ER nurse and losing weight will help my legs with all the running we do.
