I have been waiting and agonizing over the question of which procedure to go with...gastric sleeve or RNY. I was mentally ready for VSG and have done nutrition counseling, psych evaluation and teaching courses in surgeon's office. Lab work all done and everything looks great except TSH. My synthroid needs adjusted then labs rechecked before I can proceed. 4 week delay then submit to bc/bs. My surgeon is suggesting I consider RNY because it is the surest way to meet my goal of 135#. I have about 70# to lose. BMI 35.4 with 2 Co morbidities: sleep apnea and hypertension. I am very active with crossfit and spin classes and the occasional 5k run. 61 years old. Just seems to be a problem of portion control. Which would you ladies recommend? VSG or RNY? Final labs to be done in 3 wks.
