I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. The first two days, I had a headache, but I think it could have been because I wasn't drinking caffeinated coffee. Today, I did not have the headache. I have been low

I'm curious as to why there are so many different "pre-op" diets. I know each doctor has their own set of "rules" and different diets. But just curious why some doctors have a patient on a two week

Hi everyone! I just joined this forum. I am awaiting my new patient appointment so I can have the sleeve surgery done. Is this liquid diet you're talking about called optifast?

Hazelzay can you add the sugar free jello powder to your shake? I was on optifast last summer and was told its the same diet the bariatric patients follow. I could add a couple tablespoons of SF jello or pudding mix to them and they were DELISH!!

This 2 week liquid diet (right before surgery) is very specific to your surgeons recommendations for liver shrinkage... it's mostly composed of drinking Protein shakes( a brand selected by your bariactric team) along with provider/NUT specific foods that are extremely low fat, no/low carbs, no/low sugars... it's sends your body into ketosis... this is to assist in liver shrinkage so the lap trocars/scopes can maneuver easy w/out damage to surrounding internal strutures...

It's hard the 1st couple days, but gets less difficult each day... heck I survived it...lol ( i should get a t-shirt made with "I survived my 2 week pre-op diet w/out killing anyone..." lol
