I have found that sugar free Popsicles are helpful in that arena.

  • Play with the temp of your liquids. Early on I preferred hot or room temp. Now I much prefer lots of ice. Try different flavorings- I like some of the Mio ones. Early on I used decaf tea mixed wit

  • Thanks everyone for the advice. I decided to do the 1 oz every 12 minutes and today started at 5:46 am with 4 oz of my protein and have been able to down 10 oz of water with lemon. It is much easier t

Where did you get this water bottle?

I didn't. I just found that picture on google. You could easily make your own with a clear plastic bottle and a Sharpie.

I've had this same problem and I'm 2 weeks in. I was so upset because I loved drinking Water pre-op. Honestly I've tried 4 different brands of water (I know it's weird) and found that Evian with lots of ice helps. Try different temps and different brands of water... It works for me :)

This has helped my tremendously. I thought I was the only one having problems with the brands of water. I HATE Dasani and if that's the only brand around...well...I guess that bottle would last a looong while. Haven't tried Evian but will. I'm a Fuji girl right now which sucks because it's expensive. Oh well enough with my rambling. Lol Have a great day!

If u fail to plan, u plan to fail.

I'm so glad to see this topic! I'm 3 days post op and really struggling to get my fluids in. Today if I get in the entire bottle of Water I've been working on the last hour, I'll have gotten in 40 oz of Fluid, that's including a Protein shake. I'm supposed to get 60-80g protein but so far today am sitting at 21. And it's 8pm :( I know it's something that I need to work up to, but how long does it take before you are reaching your fluid and protein goals? I go back to work in about a week and a half, and am stressing about it a little.

You just have to keep working at it. I was able to get mine in more easily once the internal swelling went down by the two week mark.

Well I'm 3 weeks out and back at work and still barely get on 40 oz. I'm dr told me not to worry about how many grams of anything right now. I measure stuff in teaspoons at this stage.

I'm still pre- op but have a question.... See many post about how hard it is to get the Water down. Sounds like it would be easy, what makes it so difficult?

Your stomach is swollen post op and a lot smaller.

Right now I feel like I can't eat enough so the idea of all this is hard to imagine. Thanks for the insight... Hope your journey is going well

@ The restriction with liquids is temporary and due to internal swelling and trauma. Not everyone even experiences it at all and some people take longer than others to heal up. But once you are healed, liquid passes through your sleeve as quickly as you drink it, so it will no longer be a problem.
