Day 6 Post Op

I'm a little confused by what to eat when I start pured food on Day 8. My instructions from my Dr. are very short. Just says: Foods that are ok & don't need to be pured - yogurt, oat meal, cottage cheese, baby food, hummus, refried Beans. It tells me to keep drinking 48-64 oz of fluids and my goals are 800-1200 calories and 75 or more grams of Protein. Does that mean you can eat other things too, as long as you blended/pured and tolerate them? Or just stick to the above list. There are so many people doing different things. What has worked for others at this stage? Thanks in advance!

Mashed potatoes aren't a great choice because they have no protein and are high carb. It's better to have a high protein food.

I was confused too so I been sticking to Soups and Beans and eggs and apple sauce . But I put hot sauce in my beans because I crave hot wings so bad. I also eat wendys chili it's on my list of can eat. The only things I have eaten that is not on the paper given is pickles with no skin or seeds, lemons and then at taco bell I got a chicken quesidia and only ate the inside not the bread part( yes not the best choice but WA son middle of nowhere and only had a few choices to choose from ) .

My surgeon gave me a sample pureed menu that included things like tuna salad so I'm definitely confused on what I can and can't eat. I do have a follow up with them tomorrow (1 week post-op).

One of my friends who went through the same program I did said she lived off of mashed potatoes and hummus during her pureed phase.

Thanks so much! I feel like I'm getting more information from others who had the surgery, than all the classes I took to have surgery. I feel like it should be more cut and dry. But then again, that's what works for me, others might like it not being so regimented.

I felt the same way!

@MyFreshStart. Plans are different in many Programs - even in the same location. I am your neighbor in RI and 2 programs in Providence have very different plans.

Wait you can eat puréed foods at day 6??

Apparently , I was told to move to the next stage at my one week appointment which was actually six days one day shy . But also keep in mind different doctors give different directions .
