My surgeon is fine with sugar free beverages such as Crystal Light or sugar free Kool Aid for the pre-op diet and post-op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Non-caloric and decaffeinated are recommended but that leaves alot of options.

Non-fizzy sugar free/low sugar decaf liquids only. I use Crystal Light, Water, Decaf coffee, Gatorade G2. You can make decaf iced tea as well.

I know that the post-op diet is very strict, and i have no intention of going off it. but I'm wondering what the general word is on drinks. at the orientation meeting they told us that some can and some can't drink fizzy drinks post-op (after healing obvs). but what's the general advice on (non-fizzy) diet drinks? is any liquid okay as long as the calorie count is low/zero? or is it really an "only water" deal? I guess I have the same question wrt the pre-op fasting.
