Trying to decide bypass vs sleeve

I have to have my mind made up in a few weeks and I'm still so unsure if I want to have bypass or sleeve. My surgeon says I'm a good candidate for either and left the final decision to me. He initially suggested sleeve bc it's less risky and less invasive. I started this thinking I wanted bypass then was talked to about the sleeve and now I don't know. I'm 25, have a very high bmi, and a goal to lose 250 lbs. I have mild sleep apnea, and PCOS and had my Gaul bladder removed in 2011. Any advise, opinion, or success or even failure story would help! Thanks!

I'm doing the bypass because I like sweets. May need a heart transplant due to a condition I was born with, and the Drs. Think I will have the best outcome and can still manage a transplant if needed.

Hi Nicki, I'm having revision from lapband to bypass and I can tell you, I wish I would have just gone with the bypass to begin with. For me, the gas pains from having the lapband was terrible and I'm

So it just seems like, since pcos is a metabolic disease, it would make sense to do bypass.

I was 24 when I had my duodenal switch, I have pcos, and had sleep apnea, plus a ton of other things, they actually say the ds and Rny are great for diabetes I think I'm not sure, (which could easily become an issue with having the pcos) I am so glad I did the ds because I've had amazing results, can have a bite of something if I really really want to. I don't have the diarrhea some do but then again I don't eat high in fat foods, at least not the bad fats... I have problems with lactos, but I had a bit of. Problem before the surgery... :)

Ty yes I feel amazing! I'm very happy with my surgery of choice... I have a lot of friends that have made others and I know that this was absolutely the best for me :) especially for my long term...

I still have about 20-50 I'd love to shed, just changing up some things now again, so I will get there

Could the additional 20-50 be just exta skin? I'm assuming I'll have to have about 20 lbs of skin removed at least

I had a lapband to bypass revision....best decision for me...My suggestion...if you have lots of weight to lose consider the bypass.

In Ontario, you can only get the sleeve if you have a medical condition that justifies it. They say Bypass is the Gold Standard and since the government pays, they want to pay for what they know works. I think in 10 years time they will give the choice of either - who knows, maybe sooner. But for me it will be bypass and because I suffer from heartburn, I've decided I'd rather not have the sleeve.
