Forever!

These 6 months feel like they're going to take forever. Everyone seems to be getting their surgery in the near future... And then there's me... Pushing November. I'm sad!!!

Anybody getting theirs around the end of the year at some point?

Here's to hoping these 6 months fly by and are full of growth and change to prepare for the rest of my new life!

I had to wait nearly 6 months for all my boxes to be checked so I could have surgery. There were times when I thought it was going SO slowly. Then suddenly I had approval and two weeks later I was i

  • Trust me when I tell you those 6 months will go by so fast. I started this journey in September, 2015 and my surgery is Monday, April 11th; 4 days from now. I thought the same thing when I began

I started the process May 2015, it had taken a year but I'm FINALLY getting my Surgery May 19th. Depending on your insurance company you have to be diligent about keeping up with your paperwork and test results.

My insurance company requires 6 months too! My next dietitian appt is April 15 , which is my 3rd visit , thinking the same thing, seems like forever, good luck on your journey!

As everyone else has said, those six months will fly by. I started my process in Dec. 2015 and am just finally having my surgery on May 3......that will be six months and I didn't even have a six month requirement. The time really did go by quickly with all the tests, appts, classes, etc. I spent a lot of time learning everything that is necessary to be successful in this process. Take this time to learn all you can....all the vets are so knowledgable. Start focusing on high protein and low carbs; getting all your water in every day and just making little changes in preparation for this life changing journey.[emoji846]

Didn't expect to get so many responses. Thanks guys! I'm sure it'll fly I'm just so impatient and ready to go. I get so fixated on things that when I know it's going to happen I want it to happen ASAP!

How much warning do you normally get on surgery dates? I want my husband to take the time off work and his office is weird about requesting at least 4 weeks out.

My process ended up being about 8 months. You're kept so busy hitting all aspects of the check list that before you know it, your surgery is in 3 day. I go in on monday, wish me luck!!

Will be thinking of you as I enter the surgery this Monday for my surgery as well! Wishing all April 11th people good luck! You April 12th peeps too!!!

I know six months feels like forever. The only advice I have for you is to try to turn the waiting time into something positive. Is there something you can do to make surgery easier? For example, you could try to start an exercise program if you’re not doing one already so that you’re in shape and surgery is easier and safer. Or you could practice your healthy eating and new recipes. I know it feels like too long, but try to see the positive. And definitely keep us posted!

I had a 3 month wait and I tried to put that time to good use. No, not eating everything in sight ;-) I used this time to start changing my habits. Some examples: stop drinking with straws, start taking Vitamins daily, increase Fluid intake significantly, start getting in Protein via shakes. My surgery is scheduled for May and I started this journey in January. All of the things listed above are permanent changes you will need to make post-op anyway. I started them during the wait period because I was so afraid of being non-compliant. Essentially I made a bargain with myself: If I could not incorporate these lifestyle changes pre-surgery, I would push the surgery off. Funny, the thought of pushing the surgery off was all I needed to get my a$$ in gear.

i have a 7 month wait per my insurance so i started in december and will finish in june

This month will be my third and it did seem kinda long when I first started but I must say it's actually moving super fast. So fast I'm getting nervous already.. LOL My surgery will be sometime in August and if seems to be rushing.

I'm looking at over Christmas! I have to schedule my surgery around when I'll be home from college and that's my longest break, which stinks lol.

It goes fast!...before you know it....November will be here..,,

I feel like I am going between fast and slow. The last 3 months have flown by but day to day is going slowly.
