I had VSG+hiatal hernia repair in December, the first few days were rough but got better quickly. I am OK with the shakes but they're not my favorite.

I was still on Clear Liquids. Once I progressed I found I needed to thin the shakes out initially.

I had VSG + umbilical hernia repair.

Somewhere about 4-5 weeks out I began to feel much, much better with movement. I returned to work after 3 weeks.

All of the post-op pain I felt was strictly from the hernia repair and not the VSG.

My next step will be umbilical repair surgery, hopefully I will not need to take off so much time. Any insight you can give me would be great. How bad was it? Did you simply have surgical repair or did they have to use mesh or exactly how did it go?

I've had umbilical hernias surgically repaired with open surgery two times prior. They used mesh the second time. Recovery was in the 4-5 week time before I returned to work.

This past umbilical hernia repair was done as the same time as my VSG......and done using the same orthoscopic tools used for the VSG. Added a few minutes to the surgery and a couple more new holes.

The post-op for the hernia repair & VSG was way less than the prior open hernia repairs. I was back at work in 3 weeks.

Thanks; if I may ask, why 3 repairs?

They were over a ten year period.

Three different failures.

Gonna eventually do some core work and make my abs tight and strong.......after I get the current one repaired yet again......later this year.

My abs suck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
