  1. 10 mo out from VSG; down 120 lbs. Not had any problems other than low B-12. Just got told today that I have a urinary tract infection, was complaining about overall nausea and inability to Urinate more than a dribble, headaches and weakness/dizziness. Anyone else have any issues with these? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I had apps. 3 oz turkey breast, a spoonful of mashed potatoes and another spoon full of dressing and one of peach cobbler/ice cream; stuffed to the gills Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Not telling anyone. What do you say?

I told everyone (work, family etc) and have gotten nothing but support from all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I did the same thru Dr Frenzel in Dallas; as I recall EGD was $189 OOP, then $4000 for the sleeve; BCBS paid the rest of it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Must-Haves before surgery

Make a big batch if bone broth and freeze it. It was a godsend following my sleeve Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I waited 6 months and had no problem- though in excess the hang overs are much worse than before. I guess the revised digestive system cannot process it as well or something
  8. Got into a discussion today with a co-worker who always mixes his shakes from powder in the office (I always have premixed at home and brought in). He said his wife told him they should be consumed within 10 minutes of mixing. I called BS on him...only to find out that the label does indeed say that. Imagine that- a man who never read the instructions For adults, add one (1) scoop to 6-8 ounces or two (2) scoops to 14-16 ounces of your favorite beverage. Consume within 10 minutes after mixing. Why??? Hell, I have lost 115 lbs in 7 months, if I mixed and consumed immediately maybe I would have lost 150?
  9. From their website and on the Jug also I believe: Directions: For adults, add one (1) scoop to 6-8 ounces or two (2) scoops to 14-16 ounces of your favorite beverage. Consume within 10 minutes after mixing. Take this product with an adequate daily Fluid intake. Super Advanced Whey Protein can be taken immediately following exercise or as needed throughout the day in order to meet your daily protein requirements. http://www.bodyfortress.com/chocolate-whey-protein-powder

how long does the process take?

I think he did a wonderful job; I can eat just about anything with out any problem, I had a two day recovery and was able to go back to work immediately. I have lost 114 pounds since December 28. My insurance would only pay $4000 total for the bariatric surgery, so I went with the hiatal hernia discount. They only needed $1000 cash down and they let me pay monthly payments for the balance. They were very reasonable and easy to work with. Where are you at in Alabama? I lived in Phoenix city and Irondale for many years. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ate too fast... Lesson learned

Ditto poached or scrambled but not well done; softer goes down well, as does a fried over medium eg with the yolk broken but not cooked fully Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

how long does the process take?

Hi I am also using Dr Frnzel but I am in Alabama. I should be submitted for surgery in October. It's seems like you were very pleased. Did you stay in hospital a couple of days? I'm nervous due to I will be out of town but they are making my appt's easy for psych and dietary. I'm having EGD study done here to check for hernia. I pray I'm approved for surgery. If you have a hiatal hernia what does it mean to have discounted surgery ? Dr F charges $4500 for the sleeve if done in conjunction with the Hiatal repair- which they bill to insurance. You might think about having him do the egd; he is very thorough and will find hernias others may miss. I traveled from north Arkansas to his Texarkana office for my initial consult, then Dallas for the EGD, had my Nut consult over the phone, did sleep study and EKG locally then back to Dallas for surgery. Was in Plano Surgical 1 day, surgery on Monday, released on Tuesday. We stayed at a Fairfield suites about five minutes away had planned on staying three or four days but ended up leaving on Thursday. I felt fine and I drove all the way home stopping every hour for 10 minute walks. http://www.mycompletetransformation.com/patient-resources/specials/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Neither does the Body Fortress that I notice; I even used to mix up a gallon of it in the blender; adding some Greek yogurt etc and keep it in the fridge for a couple days; never noticed any adverse side effects. Plus leaving it sit allowed it to 'de-air'...I always hated the frothy blender shakes causing stomach gas when drinking fresh. Naturally before pouring one, I would shake it up to get the protein back into suspension.

I was a self payer (hiatal hernia discount) and from my first visit, followed by an ECG scope to confirm the hiatal hernia, sleep study, coronary MD clearance, nutritionist appt, pre-op diet...about 3 months total. Hat off to Dr. Frenzel and his team; easy process, easy operation, easy recovery and no adverse effects. Cast Iron sleeve! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. hoping one of the old-timers with more experience with nutritionist can advise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I was operated on 12/28/16 and released the next day. I felt pretty good but a bit weak; managed to go shopping for some broth and meds and went back to the hotel feeling fine but tired. We had scheduled 5 days in Dallas before we needed to return home (7 hour drive away) but I felt good enough to check out of the hotel and drive home the next day- with the Dr.'s advice to take a 10 minute walk every hour of the drive. Made it back with no problem and went to work the next day. I still have not had any issues with nausea, adverse reactions to eating, etc- other than from drinking too much Water one time before eating and needing to puke it out. Not trying to brag, but to show you that there is not always a bad recovery.

    Ate too fast... Lesson learned

6 weeks after my sleeve I had to go to lunch with clients; while waiting for my salmon I drank my glass of Water...then ate the fish when it arrived. Shortly after eating half I excused myself to go puke out all of it. Lesson learned; don't drink before or while eating! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating Leftovers

My only problem with leftovers is that now they just sit and accumulate in the fridge and nobody else eats them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. We can never, for the rest of our lives use a straw? That's crazy and sad. I guess I don't recall hearing this in the myriad of consultations with the nutritionist and the doctor- or the tons of papers I had to sign. Why exactly is using a straw bad?
