Be patient, there are many steps that you must go through prior to surgery. Good luck on beginning the process.

That is great. I have done a couple of steps already as in classes and some meetings. Because I am private pay my dr. Says I can get through faster no insurance hoops t jump through. Let's keep in touch about our journey.

My orientation is on April 18th. I'm in Ontario so it's covered through our health care but the whole process can take about a year. A girl on another board sped up her process a lot by calling the centre for cancellations for every appointment so that's wHat I'm doing. I was able to get my orientation moved up 2 weeks.

My surgery consult is April 5th--I'm so excited I can't stand it!! lol

I saw my PCP on Mar 10th for my referral letter & had him order all of my blood work (the surgeon's packet listed all of it)--the blood work showed low Vitamin D, so I've already started taking that.

My Psych eval is Mar 24 & the surgeon requires attendance at 2 monthly support group meetings before surgery, so I attended one this week. My insurance does not require the 6 mo supervised diet at my BMI (well... I had to "bulk" up & scrunch down for my PCP appointment so my BMI was over 50 to meet that, but it's on record now) so I'm hoping once I meet with the surgeon it can be submitted to the insurance company pretty quickly--but of course everyone does!!

I have a target date of June for my surgery due to work, so I'm really hoping this all works out!!

Good Luck to all of us at our April Appointments!! :)

Hi ladies, I thought I replied to this post but I think it went to cyber space. I am so excited for us. I spent the day looking at Protein options, preop diets, bought a scale, set up a journey book and checked out fitness centers. For the first time in my life 53 years of being overweight I am doing this for me. Having you as support is going to be wonderful. For dazimom my last name is Bourassa so I feel like we are meant to be friends. Let me know how you are doing!

Well....not sure where to start... I am 55 and have been overweight my entire life. I am married and have two sons 18 and 22. I had looked into surgery 10 or 15 years ago and my husband absolutely forbid it. This was when I think there were a lot more complications and mortality issues. I recently began working with an art therapy group for troubled teens and as we began our work, it became apparent the majority of my "if only" regrets were weight related. After many years of my insurance company denying all wls, they finally added it! I am soooo excited to begin the process!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
