Guys, calm down. I am not exaggerating when I say that 90% of WLS patients go through this. I see this exact same post on these boards at least 10 times a day. Stick to your program. Get your Protein,

Search for Week 3 Stall. 90% of WLS patients experience a stall around 3 weeks post-op. It is completely normal.

there is a real good chance you are not eating or drinking enough. when that happens your body holds on to everything it has.

@@malvarez1210 If you are only three weeks out, you are likely not on solid foods yet, but maybe pureed and soft foods? Drink your Protein shakes and get your Water. As for other protein options in those stages, here are some good ones:

This site has some good recipes for this stage:

I've been eating a lot of mashed potatoes because it's on the list for soft foods. Maybe that's it?! ;)

Mashed potatoes are soft but don't have any Protein. How are you getting in your protein?

I'm also having a hard time eating slowly and taking little sips, all those years of taking one bite after another. How much time does everyone take in between sips and bites? I'm also having a hard time knowing when I'm getting full. Has that happened to anyone? I don't think I'm overeating because I don't feel sick afterwards, it's just weird I really can't tell. What are some of the signs of fullness? I do get a knot in my upper stomach if I eat too fast and it takes a while for it to go away.

Protein shakes. Two days ago started with soft diet so now it's egg, ground beef, tuna, cheese, etc.

Yesterday I had 46 grams of Protein, today it's been 54. I think for 3 weeks post op that's good. No?? NUT wasn't concerned at my 2 wk checkup. I think she said 40-60 at this stage, for an average.

I know I'm full when it feels uncomfortable. Burping is a sign. Feeling nauseous means you ate too much. I didn't get a sense of satiation until I started on solid foods. liquids I could drink more of.

Yesterday I drank more and ate more Protein and knocked off 2 lbs, thank God! Maybe I wasn't drinking enough and getting enough Proteins. Lots of people mentioned that and it seems to be true, thank you! I did add unflavored protein to things that had little or no protein.

I just had a chat with my dr. He says it's normal and recommended me to weight my self only every month, since after the 3rd week you will fluctuate a bit, because your body is trying to adjust to the changes in food and food consistency. Am with you

Neither my surgeon or NUT really give me a diet. He says it's a lifestyle change so I need to learn to eat healthy, and not totally restrict or I'll end up failing like all other diets.

Hi, don't say that how far are you with the surgery? If you want I can translate mine its in spanish since my surgery was over seas, and give it to you. Yes it's a life style change but you need guidance. Let me know

Sounds to me like you need to record everything you swallow.

Record your protein, fluids & vitamin intake.

If you are getting the required/suggested amounts by your NUT, then just keep it up and hang in there. I have the same issue and I have come to realize that this is normal for me. After my big initial weight loss, my scale seems to move every 3 weeks. Now that I'm 3 months post op, I have just come to accept it. Try to get more protein & water in. In the beginning it will seem like recording it all is another full time job. Hang in there.
