post op ive found that caffeine will actually cause me heart palpitations, not a good thing, so my caffeine is limited to one cup of coffee per day, and other than that decaf only stuff. So there's no way i can use the 5 hour energy. Unless i have no other sources of caffeine.

I have. I waited the required 30 days before having any caffeine, but I have had 5 Hour Energy a couple of times since then. Maybe 4-5 times? I'm 18 months post-op. I used my same strategy as pre-op with 5HE. I get the Extra Strength kind, but only drink half a bottle.
