Smells will be the end of me!

Hello everyone!! I was sleeved on 11/30 & I also have gastritis. I'm only 5 days post-op but the smell of food is killing me!! Not so much that I'm hungry but it makes my mouth water & that builds gastric juices & oh it burns!! Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?? I try to just hide in the other room but I have the sense of smell of a pregnant woman every day of my life!! Super sensitive sense of smell ????

I did not have gastritis but the sense of smell will go away soon. I know I wanted to crawl into our microwave when my husband cooked something. As soon as I got off the clear liquid diet it got better. Now I don't even notice since I can eat. Good Luck!

thank you so much!

I'm ending week 3 and although the it doesn't happen as much, I do smell things on a level of...when I 1st came home, my son bought home Wendy's and the smell of that meat made me want to barf bcuz it was so strong. Now, etc d of wk 3, I still smell things on and off but haven't really felt sick. I only felt sick last night when someone ordered bbq pork sandwich. Otherwise, not so much.

My friend who went with me to the hospital. We sat in the room waiting for the surgeon for so long and she was starving so she finally went to the cafeteria and got herself some lunch. Naturally as soon as she started eating they came in to do some of my stuff. Those two nurses could not believe that my friend would eat in front of me and they were totally dogging her....it was pretty funny to me

I was sleeved 11/19 and I too have a heightened sense of smell. I can smell individual items within a salad or tv dinner that my husband is eating. I can't stand to open the fridge because something always smells rancid. The other night I couldn't stand the smell of my husband in bed. (Now that was a weird one.).

I'm with you guys !

Ever smelled Cherrios?!? YUCK !!!

My mom made a bowl a couple of days after my surgery ... I was sitting on the couch and she came over and sat on the love seat ... I had to leave the room!

She laughed ... ( yeah mom, really funny ) ... I told her "either finish that box OUTSIDE or throw them away!"

She was then banished to the front porch when she ate ! LOL
