  1. I thought I was done with having periods but much to my dismay and chagrin I got mine this week. Mind you my period had all but stopped in mid 2014 but had 1 period in March 2015 so I thought that was it. Anyone else experience this post op? I got laid off in October (hope to be working again this month) but since my surgery on 11/19 everyone tells me how much younger I look. Even my hair has started to get fuller and my coloring has improved. Maybe the surgery was a mini fountain of your or just not having the day to day pressure of work has helped. However, until I hit Powerball this week I have to go back to work or I'll end up living under I- 95 in a box. LOL

    Beef, and pork

Some days I can eat beef and some days I can't. chicken at 5 months is still hard. I grill a thin slice of deli ham add a little Water and poach an egg on top. Sometimes I add a slice of veggie cheese for an egg mcmuffin without the muffin.

    Surprise period

I went to the dr and got myself checked and thankfully no problems. Dr. figured it was a release of stored hormones.

    Exercise

You just have to find something you like to do. I like the pool so I swim and Water walk. I tell everyone I'm like a teabag. . . dip me in water and I'm happy. I also like to dance so I purchased some Zumba tapes which I have yet to try. I tripped in a pothole in Puerto Rico and damaged my hip socket and have now developed arthritis in the hip which makes it hard to walk. Even the recumbent bike causes pain but I go slow. Some days however are a challenge. Even though I live in S Florida it has been too cold in the mornings lately to swim in the outdoor pool and I hate the indoor one so I'm down to 3-4 times a week instead of my previous 6 or 7. Just need to find the motivation. You just have to find something you like to do. I like the pool so I swim and water walk. I tell everyone I'm like a teabag. . . dip me in water and I'm happy. Sleeve Nov 17 2015

Your post made me feel so much better. My surgery was November 19, 2105 and I'm just shy of 70 lbs down. I lost 24 pre-op so I thought I'm losing too slowly but in looking at your numbers and thinking about mine what does it really matter. It has been years since I was at this weight. Congrats to you!!
  6. Glad you got over the hurdle. We all do self destructive things sometimes. Happy you're on the mend.
  7. I had mine removed at the same time because they found a gallstone during the pre op ultrasound. Dr. also found and repaired a hiatal hernia when he was in there. When I woke up he told me I got 3 for the price of 1 (even though I'm sure he charged my insurance for all 3). Felt a little beat up day after operation but smooth sailing since. Did have 2 days of dumping syndrome on days 4&5 post op which was attributed to gallbladder removal. Thankfully no symptoms since then. It made sense to me to do it all at once since gallbladder problems post op are a know problem so why put off the surgery until alter.
  8. Please post how it goes. I am going back to work Monday after being unemployed for almost 4 months. Have been able to shop in the back of my closet but went to interview Monday with skirt/blousson ensemble and as I was walking to and from the parking garage I had to pray that my skirt wouldn't fall down. LOL I have been wanting to try GB but I'm top heavy and dresses can fit me oddly. I am just realizing now that I don't have enough clothing for work.
  9. Don't give in to the fear. I had my surgery 11/19 and right up until they wheeled me to the OR I was thinking up escape plans. I have high BP that is already going down and look forward to having my meds reduced. My blood sugar just hit the point that my doctor prescribed metformin. I was afraid to take it because of the horrible side effects so that's what spurred me on to surgery.I filled that prescription one time and never took it. My fasting blood sugar in November was 120 and now it's 90. Doctor says that number will keep improving as the weight goes down. I could barely walk due to severe arthritis in the hip. I am up to 1 hour a day jogging in the pool with no pain and am hoping to avoid joint replacement surgery. In a few short months I've lost almost 60 lbs, my health has statistically improved and I feel so much better mentally and physically. I still have days where it's hard and I "regret" the surgery but that's on days when I'm having a pity party because I can't eat or drink like I used to. A nutritionist told me "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and I can't wait to get there.

    Hair and scalp worries

I've been doing women's rogaine and Biotin since I saw a little hair loss and the hair loss seems less now. I'm also using nioxin shampoo and condition a few times a week.

    Sick of being sick

Best thing I found was GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. I could not gag down anymore Protein shakes. I mix it in to ricotta cheese, or refried Beans or chili etc and it adds 30 grams of protein to whatever you're eating. I have even used it in sugar free pudding. Mix in one scoop and prepare with skim milk. That way I know I get at least 60 grams of protein per day. I still find Water hard but I work at it. The biggest problem I had was nausea and tiredness but once I started getting more water in those symptoms got better. Still feels like a lead balloon whenever I eat but it is getting easier. I'm at 8 weeks.

    A Victory.

Congratulations on taking the first step. It's scary but worth it.

    Baths & Jacuzzis

It is not quite the same but I was given clearance to use the outdoor (public) pool at 2 weeks.
  14. I am 2 months post op. My nutritionist told me to stop weighing myself because I was going crazy and go by how my clothing feels. Now I'm pissed off because I think if I was weighing myself more frequently I would have seen how slowly I was losing and done something sooner. I exercise in the pool 1 hour a day 6 days a week. I am getting in my Protein and most of my Water every day. Only had a minor cheat with alcohol for the Boat Parade. I went to my primary doctor yesterday and even though I"m down 3 sizes in pants and 2 sizes in tops I have only lost 17 lbs post op. I'm happy with the smaller sizes and am telling myself to be happy but I have to admit I'm a little pissed off. I lost more weight before I did the surgery. I lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks pre op and only 17 in 8 weeks. I usually have 3 oz ricotta cheese with Protein powder mixed in for Breakfast, lunch is organic turkey breast with a little cheese to total 3-4 ounces together and dinner is usually a bean and meat chili with some protein powder mixed in. I'm thinking of doing Protein shakes for a couple of days to see if that gives me a boost. I am not having any form of sugar and the only carbs I had were a week ago when someone posted that they ate hash during their pureed stage. I didn't think about hash having potatoes until I ate a portion. I used that for 3 meals just to use it up but am not buying that anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks

    The truth is, I failed

I hated the Protein shakes but managed to gag them down anyway. That is until someone posted about GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. I mix it into sugar free pudding, sugar free hot cocoa etc. I've mixed in cottage cheese or yogurt into the Protein Shakes with a little sugar free jam and it turns out like a fruit milkshake. There are ways to get the protein in that is not so gross. I like ricotta cheese better than cottage cheese so I mix the protein powder into that and you can't even tell and 1 scoop adds 30 grams of protein. As hard as it is to eat, nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Buy yourself an nice outfit one size down and hang it on your bedroom door where you have to look at it several times a day. I find that a great motivating factor. I just go shopping in the back of my closet and decide what I want to fit in next.
  16. 2 weeks. I have UHC of Florida. My is the premier plan. Only drawback was there were only 2 hospitals approved in Florida. Luckily one wasn't too far away.

    Pissed off! Need to vent

Thanks for letting me vent. I find the support here invaluable so I knew it was safe. I see the surgeon for post op tomorrow. I'm not cleared for veggies/carbs yet. I think I might do the 2 shakes/ small meal deal as Proud2BMe suggested. I don't know if I can get more food in. Digesting is still a problem. Most meals feel like I have a lead balloon left in my stomach. I can't walk for exercise due to severe arthritis in my right hip so I'm only cleared to jog in the pool which I do with weights. I am hoping to get cleared for weight machines tomorrow. The NUT said to wait until post op because I had gall bladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired when I did the sleeve.

    Help! Appetizer idea needed

I did a layered bean dip that everyone loved and not one person knew it was the only thing I could eat at the party (still on pureed).

    Well THIS is new.....feeling vain.

Congratulations. I feel the same way. I'm starting a new job and seeing people I haven't seen in 3 months and I'm down 70 lbs. I still have a long way to go but I want to hear some positive feedback. I've bought new outfits and planning my hair etc. This is so not me. Little to no make up usually and a quick comb throught the hair. Now I'm planning a trip to get "done up" before I step foot in the new office.

    Clothes

I too have lost weight, given away the clothes and then regretted it when I had to rebuy the fat clothes. This time I feel differently. I am giving away anything that doesn't fit or I don't like. I am keeping 1 pair of pants as a reminder. I did not do this surgery to even entertain the idea of regaining the weight. I am over diet pills, diet books, diet gurus, home delivered diet food that tastes like crap. I am over it. I feel if I keep the old clothes I would be clinging to my old unhappy self. I am down 2 sizes in 2 months and it is only the beginning. My drawers are sorted by clothes I can wear now, the next size down and then clothes from my previous thinner life. It has been fun shopping in the back of my closet and reacquainting myself with my thinner clothing.

    Reintroducing Caffeine

I've been doing the 'bucks decaf Cappuccino with skim and 1 pump sf peppermint. Gives it a hint of flavor and it's strong enough that it doesn't taste watered down by the skim. I also drink red zinger tea that I brew and lemon zinger in the keurig. It's not regular tea but it doesn't taste nasty like decaf tea.

Time off for 360 body lift

I'm on commission, so unless I win Powerball (LOL) or something like that a full body lift is not going to be possible. Good luck to you though.
