Ask you doctor for a prescription strength anti-acid. I have to take one daily for six months. Sorry I don't have any current remedies. Make sure you are burping and gassing. Try drinking hot water. That worked for me. I am 3 days out.

Maybe try Zantac or Pepcid until you can get in touch with your doctor for a prescription? I took a LOT of Zantac those first few weeks.

So its normal thank god. I spoke to my doc he suggested omoprozol. It's so bad I'm so disappointed in this bc of it.

My doc says omeprazole 40mg 2x a day for 6 months postop

Yes I just picked my omeprazole. I was told to brake the capsules and eat the powder. Why is that?

Because they don't want the capsules to get stuck, so they tell you to eat just the powder.

I open the capsules and put it in a a bite of applesauce to help it go down.

Early on there is sometimes a concern that the pill will get passed through your system before your new tummy can break it down and absorb it. Eventually you'll be able to swallow them, but for right now you need to make sure you are getting the most benefit from them.

Also notice what time of the day you seem to get acid and take your pills 2 -3 hours before that. Omeprazole is not a reactive pill so you need to take it consistently for it to be most effective.
