Abdominal pain

Hi all,

For the past few days I have been having some pain on my left side. It goes from sharp and stabby to crampy and then nothing. It got really bad today at work (to the point I was hunched over in pain) but it did go away after a few minutes. I thought at first it may be gas, but I am passing gas and have been having bowel movements. Any suggestions of what this might be or how to feel better? If it continues I plan on going to urgent care. I scheduled an appointment with my doc (but it's not until next week) anyway.

I am about 4.5 months out from RNY.

Yes, I do! I will look at the symptoms, I always thought my gallbladder was on the other side. Great suggestion though.

Do you still have your gallbladder? That's where my pain was when I had my gallbladder attack.

Darn I meant left. I fixed it in my post. I heard the pain can radiate though.

Pancreatitis?

I was (still do) have the pain. My surgeon couldn't come up with a reason why, but he prescribed me a mild muscle relaxer (Flexerill, but I'm not sure on the spelling). It helps greatly. The first couple days I took it 2 times a days, but now I just take it at night. The pain has greatly decreased.

I called the nurse on call for the surgeon and she told me it could be anything and to follow up with my PCP. Soooo, we shall see what happens.
